Steve Kerr's West Rankings

Houston ahead of us???

Sorry, Yao Ming really doesn't scare me all that much and I think McGrady has won a total of 1 playoff series in his career. Adding Smith was nice but the guys got the brain of a pea.

added Stromile Swift, Derek Anderson, and now Rafer Alston. Upgrades at 3 of the 5 positions to a team that won 51 last year. They'll be tough.

really? nuggets won't make the playoffs.

They have a very deep, versatile, athletic team. Top ten/eight starting five. I also predict Hodge will work his way up to the back-up swingman spot, maybe even starting depending on Lenard/DJ/Buckner or someone higher starting. I think he could be a top ROTYC. If Camby can play 60 games that's okay. K-Mart should be fine health-wise. Plus George Karl as coach. If they don't make the post, I'll be quite surprised.

edit: On a side personal note on Nuggets, Luke Schenscher was waived today from camp, and replaced on the camp roster by Theron Smith! My recent boy of sorts. Good to see him get a spot, was actually hoping Petrie would put him in camp as the SF, but Daniels had advantages. But it's doubtful he'll make Denver's roster with them already being stacked at SF, and foward in general. I hope he can find a solid spot in the league this season, he's a talented young player:

Despite what that says at the end, I don't see him as a tweener.

What was said was a joke. He said no one would place them that low, I placed them lower. Joke ruined.

eh, fair enough. id still like to see her west rankings.

1. Spurs
2. Suns
3. Rockets
4. Kings
5. Mavs
6. Nuggets
7. Sonics
8. Jazz
9. Lakers
10. Warriors

I do not like preseason rankings because we have not seen how the new players are going to mesh with the old team. You do not know who has worked or slacked during the off season. That is why I said they were a top 10 team. I just was not sure where in the top 10.

I have a HARD time ranking Denver above the Kings or the Mavs based on the end of last season. If I made my rankings on that, I would rank us VERY near the bottom. I need time to see if their improvement was due to a new coach "spark" or it finally all came together. That being said, After I see some games this preseason and real season, I will WITHOUT a doubt revise my list. I am not sure who will rise OR who will fall, but it will change. Right now, it is anybody's guess.

Just so you know, I actually enjoy watching the Nuggets - more than some of the teams I ranked higher than them.
