just heard it on espnnews. he's suspended for kicking a photographer during their last game. the league will determine how many games he'll be suspended for when the investigation is over.

francis denies kicking the photographer.

Great, this does not bode well for my fantasy team.

And what's up with Orlando imploding? They seemed to be clicking decently enough while ago?

WHAT!?

I watched that game last night and I never saw sucha thing...

i mean it certainly couldn't of been like a DRodman deal...no way...

wow i can't believe it

Now, Orlando may start winning again... The guy is a bad AI impersonization. Yesterday, if he wasn't in the game and there was another PG that would feed Howard instead of holding the ball and jacking up shots, they would beat us.

By the way, I haven't seen him kicking anybody. Maybe a camera caught it?

What's going on to the Magics?? I heard Stacey Augmon got Suspension for doing something to some reporters a while back ago?? And DeShawn Stevenson got fine for kicking a ball into the stand. Then Johnny Davis gets fired... and now Stevie Franchise does this. The team have lost 6-7 games in a row too and is out of the playoffs right now. I'm also hearing that their GM, John Weisbrod is in the hot seat right now. Things are looking ugly for this team. :/

yeah in there case there IS light at the end of the tunnell...

unfortunetly it's a train

WORST possible timing for this to happen to the Magic...WORST!

and this is very embarrasing for everyone IMO

Magic G Francis suspended for kicking cameraman

Saturday, March 19, 2005

SportsTicker

NEW YORK - The reeling Orlando Magic will be without star point guard Steve Francis, who was suspended indefinitely Saturday by the NBA for kicking a photographer.

The incident occurred with 8:57 remaining in Friday's 99-90 loss at Seattle, Orlando's season-high seventh straight setback.

Francis, who leads the Magic in scoring and assists and is among the league leaders in technical fouls, is suspended without pay while the NBA investigates the incident. He will sit out Saturday night's game at Portland.

Former NBA bad boy Dennis Rodman was suspended 11 games for kicking a cameraman in 1997.

Francis picked up his 19th technical foul in Tuesday's loss at Sacramento, two nights after getting ejected from a home loss to New Jersey. His frustration has become evident during the current slide, which has dropped the Magic out of the Eastern Conference playoff picture.

In his sixth season and first with the Magic, Francis is averaging 21.4 points, 6.9 assists and 5.9 rebounds. The point guard likely will be replaced in the starting lineup by rookie Jameer Nelson.

It has been a tumultuous week for the Magic. On Tuesday, forward Stacey Augmon was suspended one game by the NBA for squirting lotion on reporters after Sunday's loss and guard DeShawn Stevenson was fined $7,500 for kicking the all into the stands after the same game.

The Magic dropped the first two games of their five-game road trip, leading to the firing of coach Johnny Davis early Thursday morning. He was replaced by assistant Chris Jent.

^please somebody get Grant Hill outta there...hehe...nah im j/k

I like the magic...Ive just started watching their game on a regular basis...they have a lot of talent on that team but they aren't using it to the best of their ability...i feel sorry for new head coach Chris Jent...the Magic played real well last night...well for like 43 mins and then went back to their old ways....

hopefully they can turn it around...but it's gonna be tough...they should be in the POs in the Eastern Conf...it's just really sad whats happened to them...at the beginning of the season they were one of the best teams in the league got off to a 13-6 start...which was like a miracle compared to their previous season...but the honeymoon ended and reality started to set in

How can a soft no defense palying team have so many thugs?

Hopefully they put the ball in Grant Hill's hands more, let him create plays for others. He's shown to be smarter with the ball than Francis is.

Francis, photographer tangle
Magic star denies kicking allegation

By DANNY O'NEIL
SEATTLE POST-INTELLIGENCER REPORTER

Orlando Magic guard Steve Francis allegedly kicked a courtside photographer in the fourth quarter of last night's game at KeyArena.

Francis denied it after the game, but photographer Jeff Reinking said that he was kicked by Francis, who had fallen on top of Reinking on the baseline beneath the Magic's basket with 8:49 left in the game. Reinking spoke with an NBA security official, Robert Sale, who was making a report of the incident.

"I fell back, couldn't get away from him," Reinking was heard telling the league official. "Then he kicked me."

The play happened in the fourth minute of the fourth period. Francis had attempted a layup, which was blocked by Sonics forward Rashard Lewis. Francis fell out of bounds and his legs landed on Reinking, a courtside photographer for the NBA who was seated on the baseline beneath the basket.

"I just put my hand to move his leg and protect myself like I've done 100 times before," Reinking said.

It was after Francis had landed that he kicked him Reinking. Reinking said he remembered just one "bang" from a kick though it appeared Francis may have used both feet.

Referee Bob Delaney came over to Reinking after the play to make sure he was OK. Delaney also told Reinking he would probably be asked to fill out an incident report.

Francis was asked about the incident after the game in the locker room, although a team public-relations spokesman had conferred with Francis before he spoke.

"He threw my legs down, man," Francis said. "That was it."

Francis was then asked if he kicked the photographer.

"No," Francis said. "Uh-uh. I don't know what happened."

Francis was booed by the crowd the next time he touched the ball as plenty of people saw the incident.

Yeah, Steve, Allen and Sephan. The 3 imposters.

Tehy have Jameer don't they?

I saw the alleged replay of the incident twice on espn yesterday, they freeze-framed it, enlarged the area and put an arrow on Francis' foot and I still couldn't see where the kicking part was. What a bummer. Basically, he went tumbling down under the basket and as he was on his back, his leg kinda gradually landed on someones shoulder/upper-body area. I guess he's being suspended mostly off the word of this photographer, which kind of sucks for Steve.
