San Antonio Express-News - The Spurs hope to finish their search for a new center within the next few days after making a hard, yet unsuccessful, push to lure Alonzo Mourning from Miami, the San Antonio Express-News is reporting.

Aware that Mourning planned to re-sign with the Heat or retire, the Spurs knew they would have a difficult time convincing him to leave Florida. But Spurs officials were initially encouraged this past week when Mourning showed interest in joining them.

The Spurs' optimism, however, had diminished by Saturday afternoon. Mourning is now expected to return to the Heat

Mournign is going back to Miami to retire, as he should. That's his franchise, his little kidney-induced vacation notwithstanding. His jersey will hang from the rafters there, he just won a tiotle there, Riley is stil there...that's the spot for him.

Collins...just sucks. Next to Tim Duncan maybe he can just fill some space, but he would be badly exposed up front next to our weenies.

Yeah, Zo's definitely retiring as a Heater. He said he doesn't know if he is coming back to defend the title, still loving the title win.

does this mean our power wings will further expose the spurs lack of interior defense? can't wait til the season starts to match up against them. rasho did a decent job against hte kings last PO. his length caused bonzi to switch a few shots.
