This has been a very good game. I cannot stand Shaq, but he has done a good job on defense when he needed to.

Miami beat the Spurs 96-92. Woohoo!!!

I know it was good for the Kings for the Spurs to loose, but man it is hard to root for a team with Shaq on it, and I cna't help but like the Spurs. Oh well good game good outcome.

On the other other hand it is oh so easy to root for the Cavs over the the Lakers... LOL Go Bron!

The Miami Arena was only about 25% occupied at the beginning of the game. I was amazed at all the orange seats sitting there empty. It looked as though people must have arrived late, because it looked pretty full at the end of the game.

This was actually a pretty exciting game. I thought that Damon Jones 3 was the biggest play. Don't think Spurs lead after that?

If you are talking about the fast break where the ball came in to Shaq and he quickly (almost a touch pass) kicked it out to Damon who nailed the 3......then I agree.

It could be a finals preview. So far they are the two best teams in either conf and maybe the #1 and #2 teams in the league. Gundy has really do ne a good job with the heat and they are playing great defense and they are executing very well. Spurs have been around for a while as a team and exeuction is expected from them, but for a new miami team to play well is very good. If they do play in the finals i hope the refs dont decide the game as they normally do with the spurs.

Interesting to see wade develop so much within two years and though the three was huge and was a momentum swing, wade's pull up jumper between duncan and parker sealed the game i would say. If he missed it then the spurs had a chance to cut it to 1 or 2.

With the way the heat are playing, i wouldnt be surprised if shaq got his second mvp, he has made a huge difference to a team that was ok last year and this year they are billed to go to the finals

props for the miami heat. they played a good game and pulled it out in the end. spurs biggest strength this season has been to avoid close games at the end, the biggest weakness is finishing the close games.

Anyone notice something. There was a blatant no rim by Eddie Jones or someone with 30 seconds left. It missed the rim by atleast 3 feet and anyone plain as day could see it. But the officials rounded up to see all points of view. But the last 2 games against the Mavs and the Suns the refs never congregated on questionable calls. It's unbelievable what kind of help other teams get while kings don't get much.

^ironic isn't it?

they really had no choice but to huddle...a similar play like that happened last year...and the refs got in big trouble for the incorrect call

besides they had to get the correct call...it was a game with Shaq and Duncan in it

From the SA paper

Wade followed with a jumper with 25 seconds left — All-Star guard matching All-Star guard — bringing up the critical sequence. Down by three points, with about 10 seconds left in the game, Ginobili drove again.

He admitted later it was a poor choice. Ginobili says he should have pulled outside for a 3-pointer and a chance to tie the game.

But Gregg Popovich's teams have often gone for the quick two points in that situation. This time, when Ginobili went up for the short jumper, Shaq was there. Shaq got the ball, and some of Ginobili's arms, too.

Enough for a whistle? "Sometimes you get that call," Ginobili said without anger.

This is why I am curious should the Kings and Spurs ever meet in the playoffs. The Kings, while known for lacking a killer instinct and giving up leads, have for better or worse been in a lot of close games recently. I think the experience of having to produce so much in crunch time will only produce benefits in the playoffs, and this could be a key intangible when the Kings face the Spurs in the WCF.

as it currently stands, they couldn't meet until the wcf. do you believe the kings will get there? i think they could, but the suns will be a heck of a hill to climb. of course, the standings at this point are never the standings in the end.

Its amazing Shaq doesen't have more. I love Wade, ALOT. He is in my top 10 favorates list. Of course, there is alot of room for advancement in my favorate players list this year, 2 of my favorates will not be playing in 05-06.

If the Suns hold off the Spurs for the 1st seed, after we beat Dallas as the 4th/5th, we would face the Suns, which, as Brick says, would not be all that tough of a matchup in a 7 game playoff series for us, I dont think. The Spurs beat Memphis or Houston in the 1st round, then Seattle in the 2nd and boom, there we have it, a WCF for the ages. Minus a 2002-esque, or Feburary 2004-esque for that matter, conspiracy I think the Kings would have as good a chance as anyone to take out the Spurs in a 7 game series.
Then it'd be off to Miami...

i only look at the loss column after midseason. spurs and suns have 12 losses, so i figure spurs win on tie-breakers.

i think the suns would be a tough matchup for anyone in a seven game series. i think the kings could win if they played defense. you got webber, but his one-on-one D is good for the half court game. he's not stopping amare in a sprint. somebody has to stop nash. he's their engine. i don't know who on the kings is going to do that. they tradied doug christie for cuttino mobley. cat's not going to do that.

i think the spurs biggest achiles heal is half court offense when team's bunch up in the middle. it's gives tim a hard time and the perimeter players can't drive. that leaves jump shots. if the spurs make 'em, they win. but i can see the kings being able to play that sort of defense against the spurs.

the other achiles heal, or should i say ankle, is tim duncan's health. he's played fewer minutes than ever and seems to be hurting. spurs may have to trade some seeding for health, and give tim a rest.

I favor the Kings, as well as the Spurs, over the Suns in a 7 game series because while the Suns will never play D, at least the Kings have 3 games to figure out how to slow the Suns down. Based on the history of the Kings' D in the playoffs, I think it can be done.
