Can folks who post on this kingsfans.com site get together and offer the beginning of a solution?

Towards that end, I would pledge $500 for an ownership share in the Sacramento Kings or for a piece in the ownership of a new arena in Sacramento.

Together I'm sure we could do more than that. In fact I'm open to being pitched for more. I would love to find a fiery leader.

This would require someone to step up to be a majority owner to run the arena. Otherwise, with so many owners nothing would ever get done, just look at the government !

What difference does it make if you own the arena? Are you going to give it to the Kings? That's what you'd have to do. They would want total control of it for all events. At any rate, the reason I bring it up is because I know of no cases where an arena was built and paid for by someone else and given to the owners, other than through taxpayers. There are just too many legal issues. But you know what is good about this idea? At least you are willing to do something about it. You are saying, "don't tell me we can't, tell me how we CAN get it done". Not enough people like that out there anymore.

The Honda Center is owned by the city and managed by Samueli. This is how most arena's are done. So Sacramento or any other private entity would own the arena and MSE would run it. This is what has been proposed. MSE has said they would be willing to do a 30 year lease at $10mil per year.

Exactly. Many similar facilities are owned by government entities and leased out on a long-term basis.

I read it as the guy saying that the arena would be owned privately, as in a bunch of fans. If I misread that, then I apologize. My point pertains to private arenas that are owned by someone other than the primary tenant using the facility.

Samething basically, just need someone to manage it.

We can't even scrape enough money together to get a decent server for this website!

I, too, would commit money toward an arena. Some one would need to figure out how to set up a trust account that would hold the money securely and refund the money, if no deal for an arena happens.

I doubt it would be more than a drop in the bucket compared to the total funding, but it would at least be a tangible statement of the fans. Actions do speak louder than words. I just have no idea how to set up such an account.

I don't care about an ownership piece, but it might depend on how much someone contributes. Myabe there could be a wall of names at a new arena.

I agree with all of this. The wall of names or bricks with names in the entry would be all I would want out of it.

Well, that and my grankids getting to grow up with the Kings as their hometown team! :)

Hell, I'll buy two bricks, how much are they? Hey, I'll contribute, and I could care less about owning anything. Maybe we could work a deal where if you contribute enough, you owna seat for so many games, but that seat is donated to poor kids that would never have a chance to go to a game. Whatever! Just give me an address to send the money to. Lets do what those jackass's on the city council couldn't do.

Creative solutions - I like it. I like the brick idea as well - I would purchase one or three. Unless it's cost-prohibitive, in which case I would at least think about it before ultimately deciding not to purchase.

I'd buy a brick, or if there was a legitimate investment opportunity I'd seriously look into that as well.

The brick idea is actually pretty decent. I would be willing to buy a brick for each person in my family and maybe then some.

I think we should write the idea to the mayor. He must have some people that could help set up a citizen's account.
