So...Time to build around Cousins!

Reke is gone. While I'm highly skeptical of this move, I think we can still be led to glory by none other than DeMarcus Cousins. Yes, DeMarcus Cousins. Cousins, who DOES have a post game (and a damned good one) to all of those (Gary) kind of people.

Agreed. And it's nice to hear that our FO has been discussing his future with him in a positive light.

The one problem I see with your post is that I'm not banking on the fact that Cousins can lead us there by himself. We need another star/2nd option. Many of us here including myself thought Evans was/could be that guy, but unfortunately, our FO has decided to go in a different direction.

Can McLemore become that type of player? It's possible. I personally think he could become a third option on a contending team, so we'll see if I'm wrong on that front. There is always the possibility that we land a star in the next draft depending on how our team performs. Last option is free agency, but how often do free agent stars come to Sacramento? It will be interesting to see what the FO has in store for this team. One thing I don't want us to do is go the Dwight Howard route and only put shooters around him who aren't go-to options. With a dominant guy like Cousins, that can get you to the playoffs, but it's going to be difficult making it to the finals let alone winning it all.

I think the FO is trying to surround Cousins with shooters at the wing and hustling hard-nosed big man at the paint. Kinda the Rockets model with Hakeem. One key element to watch is how McLemore plays off of Cousins, whose commanding of double-team should get BMC plenty of open looks if his teammates can find him. Jimmer may actually strive in such a system.

This team definitely needs another scorer, even if BMC blows up. That will probably happen down the line. I'm guessing the 2014 draft is where they are most likely to get that third star if they are indeed destined for one. Otherwise, they could go after Rudy Gay in FA or pounce on an opportunistic trade.

Anyway, the SG logjam is a lot less congested now and the backcourt finally resembling something of NBA instead of something from the Ruckers' playground.

I also expect the team to get rid of Salmons, Outlaw, Hayes and Johnson somehow, or at least try.

It was always time to build around Cousins. They've just done a really crappy job of it up to this point. Hopefully this new organization knows how to get it done.

1. Guard that can run pick and roll with Cousins and feed him when he gets post position inside - check (Vasquez)
2. Wing that can move without ball and hit the open jumpers when Cousins gets doubled - check (McLemore)
3. Shotblocker/defender big man to play next to Cousins - (Robin Lo... oh wait)
4. Veteran/leader/mentor that will have Cousins' respect and keep him focused (Iguo... damn)

Halfway there, but 3 and 4 are harder to find than 1 and 2.

I just hope too god we start too get some defensive players too put around Cousins... Im not encouraged by the things PDA has said about his philosophy.. He hasnt mentioned defense once.

Defense should be first priority on our List.

I like Vasquez because he makes our whole team better offensively, but hes really a bad defender. guys like Paul, Irving, Rondo, Lowry, Parker, Lawson are absolutely going too kill him. I witnessed it all last year. Im worried.. Defensive starts with stopping the ball and thats already our weakest link. Vas looked bad last year with two shotblockers behind him. Imagine this year.

Im not trying too totally bash General Vas, cause like i said i love his floor leadership. But we definitely have too address defense or we are going too be in the Wiggins running next year. (which aint necessarily a bad thing)
