posted Feb. 24, 2005

Philadelphia 76ers President and General Manager Billy King announced Feb. 24 that the Sixers have acquired forwards Rodney Rogers and Jamal Mashburn from New Orleans for forward Glenn Robinson.
A 6-foot-7, 270-pound forward, Rogers is playing in his 12th NBA season and boasts career averages of 11.1 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game in 838 games (340 starts). The 34.9 percent career three-point shooter has played with Denver (1993-95), the L.A. Clippers (1995-99), Phoenix (1999-2002), Boston (2001-02), New Jersey (2002-04) and New Orleans (2004-05). A former first round draft pick (9th overall) by Denver, Rogers enjoyed his best season in 1997-98 with the Clippers when he averaged 15.1 points and 5.6 rebounds per game. The 1999-2000 NBA Sixth Man Award recipient, who played for Sixers Head Coach Jim O’Brien in Boston during the 2001-02 season, has averaged 10 or more points in seven of his 12 NBA seasons. This season, Rogers is averaging 9.2 points, 4.7 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game in 30 games (26 starts).
A 6-foot-8, 247-pound forward, Mashburn has played in the NBA for 11 seasons with three different teams: Dallas (1993-97), Miami (1997-2000) and the Charlotte/New Orleans Hornets (2000-04). During his career, Mashburn has averaged 19.1 points, 5.4 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game in 611 games. A NBA All-Rookie team selection in 1994 and a All-NBA Third Team selection in 2003, Mashburn has been on the injured list (patella femoral irritation, right knee) for all of the 2004-05 season.
A two-time NBA All-Star and first overall selection in the 1994 NBA Draft by the Milwaukee Bucks, Robinson has been on the injured list all season (left ankle tendinitis). He was acquired by the 76es on July 23, 2003, in a trade that also included Atlanta, Minnesota and the New York Knicks. During his 10-year NBA career, Robinson has averaged 20.8 points, 6.1 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game in 679 career games. In his first season with the 76ers (2003-04), Robinson averaged 16.6 points and 4.5 rebounds in 42 contests.

We should have gotten Glenn 4 Webber due to expiring contract, however Petrie pulling this bad deal makes me think theres more up his sleeve. As of yet there is nothing said by the players coming to Sactown because they feel the movement isn't over. Come on Petrie, don't stop! This does nothing for rebounds or defense.

Sixers are busy.....wonder if Petrie has anything before 12:00 PST

Anyways: shouldn't this tread in the NBA section?

unfortunately, I think they're done, but we can always hope.

I would keep Kenny Thomas, but pack Skinner and Corliss w/ perhaps a bench player for 1 decent rebounder and defender. God I hope Petrie sees something in this trade we don't.

may be we could trade the 3 new booties for some one else..dont care if its shaq or kobe, or just bring back divac or christie to relieve this pain.
