Nuggets deal: Nene
Why for denver...they save money THIS season and also save the money on the backend of the deal worth the 2 seasons they lose on Nene's deal. They are in the LTT and so any savings is actually double. Also Kenny is healthy and could produce for the Nuggets while they have AI. Also, Kenny, Marcus and AI all expire in the same season, so that could potentially be a huge savings for the Nuggets to re-up that year and build around Carmelo. They can compete NOW with Melo/AI/Camby etc, and they'd be able to maneuever to remain competitive with Melo after AI/Camby diminish in their talents.
Why for the Kings....Petrie saw something where he offered Mobley in a sign and trade with Denver. Nene has two additional years, but is significantly younger than Kenny. If he gets healthy AND develops we'd have a big defensive presence to pair with Ron-Ron/Martin in the frontcourt. Many have accused Petrie of taking too few risks, but this may be a gamble worth taking. If he pans out we could potentially have a young frontcourt of Nene/the big man we select in the 07 draft.
Also Bibby/Miller/SAR become tradebait to acquire younger assets to continue to build around Martin/Artest/Nene.
