sign jason terry... trade bibby and miller...

BALLER4LIFE

G-League
jason terry is a free agent at the end of the season. the kings should sign jason terry as a pg, trade bibby and miller/thomas and try to pick up a solid big man. suck it up, pay the luxery tax this year and compete for a championship!

dallas will not want to let terry go for nothing... but their payroll is currently at 96 million. so would dallas really be willing to shell out even more cash to keep him? knowing cuban maybe but the kings should at least take a shot at this guy!

Jason Terry will most likely be resigned by the Mavericks. Mark Cuban isn't concerned with money...

ugh how bout no.....

how would we acquire terry anyways? he wont be signing for mle...

thats true... kings should take a shot though... i just want the kings to be able to get an all star quality big man and have a point guard who lays it all out on the line! it just seems to me bibby has not been the same player in the post season as he once was.

That's all well and good but you have to look at things from the other side, too. The Mavericks have Terry's Bird rights. They can offer him more than any other team. Mark Cuban will most likely make him a pretty generous offer.

Bibby was so banged up by the end of the year it was a miracle he could even play. What we need desperately is a decent back-up for him. The only way you get rid of a player of Bibby's caliber is for an offer you simply cannot refuse.

Yea i agree with VF21. I think a lot of people are starting to underate Bibby's talent. I mean how much of an upgrade is Terry over Bibby. IMO i think Bibby is a solid PG and just needs a back up PG and a C who will help him on Defense. Plus im pretty sure Mavs will pick up Terry's contract and resign him. Cuban is a pretty smart owner so he knows how to take care of business.

the mavs will resign terry, van horn comes off the books so i doubt it will hurt cuban that much.....

Terry's gonna stay with Mavs...

Bibby needs a decent back-up at least... he hasn't had one since 2003, half of 2004. That will be addressed, no doubt.

And you think Bibby shoots to much. If Terry had the opportunity he would jack up more shots then Kobe. He doesn't create for the rest of his team. He can get in the lane whenever he wants but instead of dishing it out he takes it himself.

that's a TERRIBLE idea, Bibby is a much better playmaker than terry, his assist numbers just didnt show it last year becasue before ron got there he was scoring the ball and letting brad distribute more than he usually does (which ledd to brads 4.8 assists). Not only that but Bibby is just as clutch if not more clutch than terry, and hes just as good a shooter, if not a better shooter.

Terry is a better point guard than Bibby for the way the game is called right now. With the new hand-checking rules, getting into the lane is easier and thus more important than ever, and now Terry is suddenly more valuable than he once was. Plus he's much better on defense. I don't know that he's a more skilled player than Bibby and Bibby's better at distributing, but like I said, for the way the game is called right now, a penetrator like Terry is more valuable than Bibby.

That said, he'll re-sign with Dallas so it's kind of a moot point.

From a general NBA view, you might be right. From the Kings viewpoint, Bibby is more important to them than Terry would be. Bibby is clutch and perhaps shoots too much for a PG, but why shouldnt he shoot since he can make them. Terry is ball hogger and you can see it on the court. He made too many stupid mistakes in the Final with the ball (kept shooting 3's, fading away...). Bibby would shoot less if he had more options. In the old days, you had C - Webb, Peja, and Divac and the bench players (Hedo, etc.)to pass the ball to, but now its different. We have more of a post game so bibby gets more open looks, before it used to run n gun down the court. Im not sure on how much Terry is a leader on or off the court either.

Chances are Terry will resign with Dallas, Bibby might get traded, but for someone of equal value in return and not team's trash.

Well that's ridiculous. I don't think many people will agree with you on that one. He is not a ball hog, and he has probably been Dallas' best player in the finals. You say why shouldn't Bibby shoot if he can make them. Same goes for Terry, he's had two 30+ games againts Miami. Shooting the lights out. If Dallas do come through, chances are Terry will be picking up Finals MVP since Miami have taken Dirk out of it. Fact is, Terry is a better overall player than Bibby mainly becuase he is more athletic and can play better defense. He's clutch like Bibby (although maybe not as clutch) and is as good a shooter. How anyone can call him a ballhog with what he's done for Dallas this year is beyond me.
Back to topic, I think we should keep Bibby. People are always on his back but I for one know that we are lucky to have a PG as good as him. Who would you guys honestly and realistically think we can replace him with? Its a back-up we need. And some big bangers inside. I wouldn't mind trading Miller though, should the right trade come along.

How are we going to get a decent backup PG when Hart already exercised his player option? We'd have to trade Hart and sign a FA like B-Jax, but the trick is finding someone who will TAKE Hart. That would involve a multi-player deal IMHO.

bibby is still in top 5 pg's in my opinion. he shoots enough during the game, but he's also a good passer. and its been said a billion times. our problem is our big men. next.

Not sure what Hart has to do with it really. His deal is only $1.7 mil, so he's hardly pinning us financially, and if we find somebody better, he can always become our Mateen.

Still mgiht be a chance to move him though, just because he has an ending contract. Those things have minor value, and also are useful for balancing out larger trades financially.

What a big waste of $1.7M why did we get Hart again...defense.

That's exactly it. Hart combined with Potapenko and Big Nasty is over 10 million in expiring deals. Deals of varying size and players that could provide depth for other teams in a trade. I am liking our assets right now.
