26. Sacramento: The crowds here, and the one-horse-town centricity seemed bulletproof for years. Now not so much. The Kings are on the short list of NBA franchises experts think might re-locate. The arena is outdated. That first glimpse from the airport -- from terminal to open fields to Arco Arena to open fields -- isn't as stark as it used to be, but Chris Webber's concerns about proper soul food and other cultural attractions weren't completely unwarranted.

It's almost like Gavin Maloof saw this, another negative story coming. In the last week he's said on camera several times; "we're tired of all the negativity," "there's been too much negativity," etc.

I agree with Gavin, but unfortunately all the gathering clouds of uncertainty surrounding his NBA franchise, the very bad economic conditions... Well, none of it is inspiring great joyful celebration, to say the least.

OMG, don't even get me started! I guess we might as well kick our team to Anaheim or KC already, since we're on this 'short list' and stuff. The end is near...oh no, the sky is falling!!!

I understand your point. But, the end really is near unless there is a project laid out and ready to go by March of next year. The time is actually coming, this isn't 2006 anymore.

There has to be a developer in place drawing up the plans for the Arena that is DEFINITELY being built, by next March.

This will probably fall on deaf ears. But, I think if the fans of the Kings show their support by once again going to the games it would certainly help influence the Maloofs to do everything possible to keep the Kings here. Maybe I'm just fantasizing, but I think its the only weapon the fans have. Is to show their support.

This isn't really about how good the team is. Its about trying to keep the team here. The old saying that you never knew how much you cared about someone until they were gone. Its true, but in life there almost always another someone. Not so, with an NBA team. Once their gone, the city may never see another NBA team play here. It would really be a shame to see that happen. I would hate to see the city learn the hard way.

Not exactly. From what I've read and heard, the Maloofs haven't drawn the line in the sand quite that definitively ... yet.

As bajaden has pointed out, the Maloofs are businessmen and they appreciate good customers. If the fans support our young Kings with improved attendance, jersey sales, etc. I don't see the Maloofs declaring they're going to move by the franchise move request date of March 2010. I think they've shown repeatedly that their first preference is to stay in Sacramento. I think they're considering alternatives IN CASE nothing happens, but I don't see them making a declaration like that with a first year coach, exciting rookies, etc. unless the season is a total bust.

People need to show their support for the future of the Kings, again as bajaden has said, by putting their butts in the seats in Arco. If you wait until the team is a contender again, you might have a lot longer drive to go to a game.

Fans in the old days showed their support for heart and hustle, energy and excitement. I'm going to do that again this year by attending as many games as I can get to. If you want to support the Kings, do it now.

Well to be fair, the Maloofs have said they need to know if this plan can work by next March.

Doesn't mean they will move the team or that they want to move it. However, I think a move is as close as it's ever been and, yes, we do need to show our support for the team this year.

If the Cal Expo plans get shot down as not financially feasible and the fans don't appear to support the team anymore, I think that could be the tipping point.

I'm going to break in to my wifes shoe money she has stashed in the closet and treat her to some more Kings games this year.

My granddaughters may attend their first game this year if the schedule falls the right way.
