please try to realize something kings fans....most every pacer fan stated it was time to trade ron...either that or it was long past the time...

so theyre really looking for continuing validation of that...though most will say just the opposite, theyre hoping problems do develop as it will serve as validation that the pacers made the right move and they got the better end of the deal...
To point out the obvious though, this is Kingsfans.com, not otherwise. I love fans from other teams here, but not for their constant warnings or complaints about our new/their ex-player.

All I ask and recommend is that we not pee in each other's cereals. There ain't nuthin' else in the cupboard.

I don't think there's a Kings fan around who isn't well aware of Artest's past. But the main thing is...it is his past. Should we condemn him out of hand, not support him and pretty much poison the well?

Why not give him the benefit of a new start and see what happens? It's not like we have a choice. The trade was made; it's history. The Maloofs took the big gamble.

I, for one, was against it. I spoke my mind often about my fears and concerns and reasons I wouldn't do the trade. But now, that's all over. The trade was made and Artest is in the uniform of the team I love.

I am going to give him my full and total support until and unless he gives me reason not to. Anything else would be like shooting myself in the foot. If he fails, the team fails. I don't think any real Kings fan wants that...

As far as Peja goes, he isn't the type to just chase after a deal. Had things not gotten so contentious between he and Webber (with a very large part of the blame on that going to our local media vitriol dealers), he never would have asked for a trade. Things wouldn't have deterioriated IMHO to the point where he just wasn't happy here any longer.

Let Peja know he's appreciated. Give him a chance to play his game and he'll be with you to the end.

I, too, really enjoy the exchange between PacersDigest and KingsFans. I think we can both see each other's points of view. All I ask and recommend is that we not pee in each other's cereals. There ain't nuthin' else in the cupboard.

;)
i fully support artest his the man for the job, his got the skills to lead a team to a championship....like i said a few days ago this is his team, if he goes down guys like bibby and wells are going down with him but yu now those cats they are ready for the war and are ready to bring the title to sactown.

I think we can support Ron as a King without necessarily hiding our head in the sand about his past. Hate pieces need not apply, but always intreresting to hear about his previous antics and what to watch for.

So after three pages of discussion we still don't have consensus: Bibby or Artest...Who is leader?
Very hard to tell so early. Artest would appear to be, but who knows how he handles that situation.

In the print edition of SI, there is small column that I guess is a sub-column to the posted at the beginning of the thread that is very interesting. The column is about the Maloofs taking a risk on Artest and their history of taking risks on players. Here's the quote and I'll put a link up if I can find one:

Joe Maloof: "[Adelman's] a littly angry at Gavin and me." "That started with the Phil Jackson thing, but I don't have any animosity toward him, and I'd like to have him as our coach for many years to come."

Good article. I am a Kings fan AND a Pacers fan. Have followed the Kings since Cisco joined and have followed Pacers for 10 + years. The Artest thing is especially intersting to me. As a Pacers fan, I was glad to put the whole thing behind us, but as a Kings fan, I'm torn. I do think if Ron just plays (no off the court distractions), the Kings will win bigtime. I don't need validation about Ron however. I know him, and know the good and bad that he brings to the table. He is bringing good to the Kings table. He wasn't bringing anything good to the the Pacers table as he wasn't part of the team or playing. Its a good trade for both teams. The Pacers already have heart/desire type players so it won't change their team personality. The Kings however didn't have a key player with that type of personality (Cisco is to young to count)--so it will change their team personality--for the better.
