shut down corner

all the rage in the nfl these days is having a shut down corner. every teams wants a guy that can shut down the opposing teams' best receiver.

in my mind the pg is typically the qb, the center is the running back because he is your horse for easy point/easy yards, the sg/sf are you're running/jumping/high flying receivers, and the pf equates to a tight end.

in ron ron, we now have a shut down corner to harass/contain/smother the leagues best receivers. studs like kobe won't be looking forward to lighting up our young guards (i.e. kmart and cisco) anymore.

the big question: is ron ron gonna be our champ bailey or pacman jones?

I'm hoping that Artest will light a defensive fire under some of the Kings, such as Brad Miller. Artest was on the Chicago team when Shaq threw the punch at Miller and got suspended. Miller was harassing Shaq all night. Let's hope that we start seeing more of that.

Ron can certainly shut down anyone and he wears them out at the other end too with his physical bruising style of offense. He draws a ton of fouls on whoever guards him

The big guys are line-men, you usually win or lose based on the strengths of your line, and ours are all finesse. However, good cover guys let you cheat help for your line (blitz)

It can't hurt the kings to have a lock down cover guy, but what really needs to happen is it needs to light a fire under the lazy butts of the 1 and 5 positions. Bibby and Miller HAVE to commit to being at least mediocre defenders. Period.

As of now they just plain suck, mediocracy would be a stunning improvement. As long as they suck, so does the kings D.

You guys remember, those of you from the Bay Area, when Deion Sanders joined the ‘9ers? Well, in case you missed it, everybody got a new attitude – the, don’t F with me attitude. Artest will play solid D, and nobody wants to be out there having Artest make them look bad, so defense will be contagious. Trust me, this isn’t just about getting a good player, it's about changing the attitude and making teams terrified to play us.

if it's not doug christie teaching these young guys to fill lanes and be slick, ron ron can show them how to hunker down and body up.

hahahahahahahaha... pacman jones a shutdown corner? please... don't even put him in the same sentence as champ bailey. getting burned by every receiver doesn't make pacman a shutdown corner.

Artest will help, but we're still going to need a shotblocker that will intimidate the lane to be even considered a good defensive team. Honestly I would love to see the tough blue collar defender Brad was labelled when he came here, but he's gone way finesse for me to believe that's gonna happen.
