Should we pick him up and draft a power forward?

Also, you could be nicer in your reponses. I would enjoy discussing this with someone who is not out to slam opinions. Thanks.
Please check your PMs.

Now, back to the topic at hand. You said bringing Finley would be a good idea in one post, and then - above - you say
...It is good for a young team to be sprinkled with accomplished vets. The Pacers are a good example of this. Im not saying Finley is the guy...

I didn't mean to imply that we don't need any accomplished veterans. What I was trying to convey, especially in the context of this thread, was that I do not think Michael Finley is the accomplished veteran we need. That was - and is - my point.

I just think that throwing a not-yet-ready Kevin Martin into a full time role when he's not ready would be a bad move. I think if he goes out for an entire year, and puts up not-so-good numbers his confidence may be hurt, which would hurt his future more than it helps.

I think having a good vetran like a Micheal Finley to guide the guys for a year would be much more helpful than just throwing guys who aren't ready out to the wolves.

...This mostly applies to Kevin Martin, as I actually do think that Mo could be a servicable starter, now that I think of it...I'd just rather him off the bench.

don't you think thats what coaches are there for, to keep their players confident? If we don't do anything with Martin soon he'll just become another gerald wallace.

You know, the raptors are reportedly going to sign jamall magloire. I was thinking that with the raptors just signing a low post big man in magloire, they may be willing to trade chris bosh to us for maybe a few of our guys(maybe peja, corliss, etc...) and our draft pick. Then we won't have to sign finley or worry about our draft pick and maybe if there is some money left, depending on how much money we free up, we could sign someone like larry hughes at sg. Now that would be a killer team.
Pg: bibby
Sg: hughes
Pf: bosh
Sf: evans(gotta resign him)
C: miller
Bench:
Pg: bobby
Sg: martin
Pf: thomas
Sf: ???(all this typing made me forget who we have left)
C: skinner
We could all wish, but I also think this is possible to accomplish.

I can get on board with that.
I just dont think a cheap Finley would be too far removed from that.

Trading Peja AND Corliss AND our draft pick for Chris Bosh? Did I miss something?

As far as freeing up money goes, we don't have any "free money" to spend. The team is still so far over the salary cap it's almost laughable. Trading Peja and Corliss wouldn't do a thing to alleviate the problem because we'd be getting equal salaries back.

You do, however, make one valid point. It would be a killer team...just the idea of it is killing me.

Well, Here's my analysis on this whole situation...Below is a list of every free agent shooting guard...I've bolded those I believe would help the team.

4. Shooting Guard
Ray Allen---Out of price range.
Michael Redd (Opted Put)---Out of Range.
Larry Hughes---Out of Range.
Joe Johnson (Restricted)---Out of Range.
Cuttino Mobley (Opted Out)---Not likley to be resigned. Wants to much money.
Eddie Jones (Player Option)---Aging, I assume he's gonna stay with the Heat.
Kerry Kittles
Latrell Sprewell
Ronald Murray (Restricted)
Willie Green (Restricted/Early Bird Rights)
Jon Barry
Casey Jacobsen
DerMarr Johnson---Young, athletic, a good shooter. Not much defence.
Juan Dixon (Option Declined)---Another Cuttino Mobley?
Raja Bell---Plays defense, and is an undererated offensive player. Maybe a nice backup.
Keith Bogans (Restricted/Early Bird Rights)
Maurice Evans (Restricted)---He's a keeper...Give him another year or two in the bench.
Kareem Rush (Option Declined)---Another shooter. Nothing more.
Shandon Anderson
Dajuan Wagner (Option Declined)---No defense, bad attitude. Worth a risk???
Anthony Peeler
Matt Carroll
Damien Wilkins (Restricted)
Richie Frahm (Restricted)
Eddie House
Lucious Harris (Team Option Declined)
Laron Profit
Erik Daniels (Restricted)
Tamar Slay (Team Option)
Romain Sato
Greg Buckner (Player Option)---Defensive role player.
Steve Smith---Role player as a 3rd guard. Help the youngsters develop.
Wesley Person
Horace Jenkins (Restricted)
Qyntel Woods
Adrian Griffin
Kedrick Brown
Dion Glover
Cory Alexander
Courtney Alexander
Derrick Dial
Kurt Penney
Kendall Gill

And now potentially add, Micheal Finley, Doug Christie, and Allan Houston to that list.

Micheal Finley---Getting old, but still can play. A few years wouldn't totally hurt. Develop Martin and Mo in his year or two here...As everyone is saying, our time is not NOW, so why would we rush our youngsters into starting, when we can bring in a vet like this to give leadership and direction for a year or two.
Doug Christie---. If you think Finley is losing his skills, look at Christie. Not only is he 35, he just came off ankle surgury, which may hurt his quickness, which hurts his defense, which makes him useless.
Allan Houston---Next.

Now out of that entire list, there are not many options better than Finley.

Of course, I'm just going through free agency, without thinking of trades or the draft.

Where is my flavourite choice? Marko Jaric he fills Doug's roll to a tee

Toronto probably would not accept that deal. They are trying to get Magliore to team with Bosh to give them a legit frontline, not to trade away a young stud in a followup move. Bosh looks like possibly 20 and 10 for the next 10-15 years. You have to count on Tornto being stupid to let him go.

I just copied Brick's list from the Free Agent Traking Thread, which has Jaric as a PG.

Oops. Total brain fart. For some reason I read "Chris Bosh" and got the mental image of "Chris Andersen." Shame on me...

the raptors are a pretty stupid franchise but why would they move their franchise player for peja and corliss? it would make no sense... but than again it is toronto.... chris bosh is the future in toronto, that is if they even have one

^^I know the differences between the players. I thought ur response to my original post was because u got the 2 confused.

Peja + Corliss + Draft pick for Bosh + whatever bad salaries they want to toss back. YES PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!

They would never ever ever ever do such a dumb trade. I'm talking about Toronto.

This is making me crack up. Who knows, we may even start talking about african monkeys in this thread sooner or later.
