Vlad said:Just like last season, when we were 15-43 without him (or was it 43-15?)
The Kings offense has kind of died this year. We've gotten more selfish with the addition of Mobley and the losses of Christie and Vlade, and just worse with Peja not playing as well as he can.
It is clear to me that Peja is very dispirited. He goes from being the 2nd leading scorer in the league to on some nights, the 5th option on the team. Not that it's a good excuse, but his lack of heart is conspicuous.
The Kings need to either deal him or Webber by Thursday. Getting a championship with this current team is almost impossible.
I know^. It's really baffling to me that anyone wants to argue about any facet of the Kings offense when it's clearly not the problem the team needs to address.ReinadelosReys said:-The fact that people still throw last seasons record out there is baffling.
-If watching a "dead" offense = second in the L in scoring and 1st in assists, then kill me now.

Amazingly, this is EXACTLY what I would say if I had swisshh's communication skills. So I'm going with swisshh's vote too, whatever that is.swisshh said:Webber is a paradox for me. He has played beyond expectations and put up all-star numbers. He is the central point to the offense as well and talented big men are at a premium.
On the other hand, his physical limits due to the injury slows the entire team down. This team is just a whole lot slower than past teams. The problem is a bit of the Patrick Ewing theory, that this team plays at Webber's speed so they can keep him in the flow of the game. Without him in the lineup they can just move freely and run.
What do you do with a guy who has 3 tripple doubles in a week but who's physical limitations bogs down the team at times?
First of all San Antonio is the best defensive team in the league. I'd say ppg is indicative of pace, but fg% and assists are not neccesarily so. 102.8 ppg last year on 46.2% shooting vs. 102.7 ppg this year and 46.0% shooting. The Kings do not run more this year... I'd even say they run less, they are operating in the half court more than they almost ever have, and their fg% is still way up there. Throw in the 25 assists per game(in over 50 games) and it's hard to say the offensive exicution is just a mirage at this point.Vlad said:You're right. The offense is not the main problem. But the high assists and scoring average are also highly dependent on the Kings fast paced game. When San Antonio comes in and slows the game down and beats us 103-73, it makes you wonder whether the offense just had a bad night, or whether not everything is as perfect as it seems.
Alacron said:Your poll says, "Should the Kings trade Webber?"
I say yes, for LeBron James and Kevin Garnett. No, for Allen Houston.
Seriously man, before you just go and open up a can of worms this big, at least put a qualifier or two in there... I mean depending on the particular trade, it could be the best or the worst deal in history. All this does is give the haters yet another opportunity to say 'Webber's a cancer, dump him.'

A lot of leaders do that every so often. I guess it comes with the terrirtory of being the leader. I agree with you 100% that C-Webb is awesome.t5chris said:Chris Webber is the whole reason why I became a fan of the kings. He plays with heart and is a great leader.
The only thing I don't like is that sometimes he tries to take things into his own hands too much. The last 3 games he was shooting 30% and taking over 20 attempts. That's not going to get us far.

2 things which any long term observer of the league wil tell you:
1) You do NOT win in the playoffs without rebounding
2) You do NOT win in the playoffs without post play
Webber is the best the Kings have in both those categories. Of course he is uniquely suited to running our offense as well. Furthermore, as the clear emotional leader of this team trading him is ripping the heart right out of this squad (other than Peja's, which has apparently already been torn out). Because of all of that there is no rational deal you can make for Webb that gives us any shot at all this year. We trade him, we give up the season.
However, we still MIGHT be able to make another trade of somebody else and still have a shot. ANY trade we make should have these golden principles -- we must gain in either rebounding, defense or both. And under no cirucmstances can we go backward in either area. Another post player might help too.
Trading Webber at midseason here is pointless -- he's holding up his end of the bargain. He's doing his part, and with the right team around him we'd have a shot. If you want to trade him, you wait until the offseason when you have free reign to reinvent the team without destroying its chances midyear.

Rowdyone said:There aren't too many 20/10 per night PF out there right now but the teams that do have one (Duncan, Garnett, Dirk etc.) have shown the ability to beat us this year already. The difference is defense/rebounding and how many do you give up vs how many you put up. Does CWebb help or hinder the overall effort? I would say that even though his numbers look good and often his head to head numbers vs the group above (when he plays them straight up which is seldom although in cruch time he's done a good job on Duncan with his quick hands when Duncan puts the ball on the floor) look good it's because he's playing D on less mobile players while we try to get Brad and Darius on the more mobile scorers thrown at us. What drives me crazy is to watch the league take I-Sacramento down the lane to the hoop with our three big guys REACHING to strip (which turns into and 1) the ball instead of moving their feet. Would much rather see a hard foul with effort even if it's late to an ole' reach of the arms. So, should we trade him...it depends...but we cannot continue to have an earthbound front line. Can we trade him? Only if we package him with another sought after player...like Peja.

So let me try to understand this.Bballkingsrock said:I found this at SI.com. They said that Peja might get traded, but the Kings really want to move Webber. Here is the article. If you want proof, I put down the sight, and it is the 3rd paragraph.
Regarding reports of shoptalk between the Lakers and Kings regarding Odom for Stojakovic and Jackson, both sides claim no such offer was made. Then again, both sides claim they turned it down. In reality, the above names were prominently put out there in more than one conversation and Stojakovic's agent was notified by management his client might be moved before Feb. 24. It still could happen. Yet, the guy the Kings prefer to kiss off is Chris Webber.

Totally understand. My reply wasnt towards you but towards the Kings org. if thats indeed their take on the matter.Bballkingsrock said:All I can is,.....thats what the person said........![]()
