It comes down to performance. If Rondo weren't a character, I would prefer to have him "earn" his spot as a starter against the proven lineup of last year. However, since he is a character, we ought to give him the starting spot because we don't want any trouble. In the past, he would definitely be a starter without reservation, but after the events of the last few years that have lowered his value (post-ACL injury performance, Mavericks playoffs), there are reasonable doubts. If he stinks it up this year, we have Collison and a choice between Curry and Rondo as backup. But if he proves me wrong, things will go great for the Kings.
