I don't see Thibs wanting to come here at the midway part of the season or at all for that matter. He wants a full season to just take time off.
money and an opportunity to coach a team with stars he is already comfortable with might change things. But plenty of countervailing factors too. Vivek, fact we are paying so much to Karl paying a bunch for another coach becomes prohibitive etc.

I've been saying it since we hired him but George Karl's time with the Kings is pretty much the same as Don Nelson's last Golden State years. Collecting pay checks while trying to spark "revolution" with adherence to a style unfit for the personnel at hand.

so something like what McHale did with Minnesota? he was in their front office but coached the team, if I remember correctly?
I have always hung onto Karl making it until the end of the year because of the optics of yet another midseason coaching change. Now, I think we will look foolish if we don't fire Karl. If we can get our dream coach, whoever it may be, sign him/her. If they are uncomfortable with the timing and would want a full preseason first, try Vlade. He knows the dynamics of the team and what they have been taught. He might be terribly uncomfortable but it makes some sense to me. I'd kick in a better contract as I think his contract is a one year contract. (REALLY?)
