Shock web page

Just checked out the Detriot Shock web page & if you buy one Shock finals ticket, you get one Piston pre-season ticket for free!

I like that...a nice way to get more fans in the Palace.
Maybe the Maloofs should do something special for the fans?

I think the way to get more fans out there is have the Maloofs offer a game during regular season and not pre-season. Not too many people are into pre-season games. In fact, I can't even give my Kings pre-season games away for free.

I'm not into WNBA, but I do give major props to the Monarch's for making it twice to the finals.

Congrats.

I don't like the idea of giving a Kings ticket for buying a Monarchs ticket. To me, it somehow cheapens the Monarchs... and they don't need to give Kings tickets to get people to come out.

The Monarchs are getting people to attend the old-fashioned way, by placing good tough basketball the way it should be played!

I'll tell you one thing. If I didn't live two hours away, I would be at every possible Monarchs game. I am very impressed with what those ladies have accomplished and I know there's much more to come!!!

pm me next time you have that problem. ;)

If I could afford it, I'd be a STH for Monarchs. I love the tough defense they play.

Can't wait until they win it all this year! CONGRATS MONARCHS!!

I disagree any way you can get more fans out, helps the game. Maybe after they check out one game, they will become fans?
I like the idea of a regular season game ticket. I'm always a willing taker for FREE tickets (Rockmeister) pre-season or not, just keep me in mind when you can't give them away!

Sorry, NBH, but I still have to disagree with the concept. My first thought when I read what Detroit is doing is that they must not have that much support for the Shock if they have to offer Pistons tickets to get people to attend. And there's no guarantee the people who would actually take advantage of that offer would be good for the WNBA or the Shock anyway. The Detroit Pistons aren't exactly known for classy fans...

:)

I respect your view & I'm not one to carry on about issues VF21.
I know one of the reasons I don't to LA Spark games is so i don' have to encounter rude Laker fans. So I understand your point. I just try & look at the bigger picture...getting good fans to come out to see awesome basketball.

That's one goal I completely agree with. I just think there might be better ways to do it... But, on the other hand, I have to applaud the folks who are attending the Monarchs game and giving support. Based on what I've seen of some of the other WNBA crowds, the Monarchs fans stand head and shoulders above the rest and are every bit as capable of creating true Arco Thunder as their Kings counterparts.

Sacramento loves their basketball!!!

:D

Actually, I think the Shock had the best attendance in the W this year. They are doing pretty well. And I must say, I think it's because they have got to be the best run organization the W has. MS&E could take a few pointers. They are very interactive with the fans, VERY accomodating to other teams' fans, and actually seem to care an awful lot about their team.

I bow to both of you, since you most likely know much more about it than I. I am primarily a Kings fan who is still getting to know the Monarchs. I love seeing them play and will, eventually, be able to attend a game.

I guess I just worry about what the reaction might be. I think the WNBA and the Monarchs have come a long way and I don't think they need to give away NBA tickets to bribe people to attend. But that's just my feeling about the whole thing.

I agree MB.. The maloofs do give away alot of comp tickets to groups & to their employee's. My friends sister works at Arco & she recived 4 pairs of comp tickets for the last series vs. Houston. During the Kings season they sometimes get the opportunity to buy playoff tickets. Thats a cool gesture.
Many times we don't hear about these things.

Well I see your point where it may seem like a cheap bribe to get people in the door. But the Shock organization is one of the best there is about supporting their team as it is. Bill Laimbeer, love him or hate him, takes a great deal of pride in his team and has no problem getting on message boards and telling people how great he thinks they are. They also have John Maxwell who is their PR guy who is ALWAYS on the boards promoting the Shock and asking for feedback from the W fans about their website and about other league issues. The Shock do the best job of getting info out to the fans, keeping their website updated, and coming up with unique analysis of the games and players.

They show a genuine interest and pride in their team which is a welcome sight in this league. I love how they interract with the fans in general, not just their own.

Where is that web page located. Would like to check it out.

Maybe I'm just a little skeptical about how something like that would be handled here. I'm still little shell-shocked from the whole "Our fans are golden" fiasco...those gold jerseys still make my skin crawl. ;)

So basically, I guess I'm saying I don't have much faith in MS&E's ability to conduct a successful marketing campaign that wouldn't end up looking cheesy.
