Shams Bomb! Keon Ellis and Dennis Schroder traded to Cleveland in 3 team deal. Kings acquire De’Andre Hunter

Eeehhhh…have you watched Hunter play this year? The roster makes more sense now but he’s about the same level player than Schroeder.

Yeah, but you might be underrating the teams in that bottom 6. It's going to be a dog fight that last month tank wise and the Kings will be looking to beat up on some defenseless victims and teams just looking to rest for a deep playoff run.

Maybe we can rest him or play him 50% of the games and not get flagged. If we trade other "winning" players that will also help assure we don't win and maybe make this make some sense. We smartly sat Domas and Fox after that move to help get us Keegan. So who knows.

Also, where is the talk of the Kings being over the luxury tax by 13 million coming from? Spotrac has Hunters salary at 23 million and the Kings were already under weren't they?

Didn’t like Schroder’s game. Inconsistent. Keon was gone anyway seeing how we screwed him over all season. Glad he’s getting a real chance somewhere else. Finally got a little more length on this team. Something people have been crying about for a longtime. Also made a spot for Cardwell and opened up the logjam at the guard position. Don’t care about the second rounder either. I like the move.

So basically the argument from fans is that they are mad that we won the trade and may potentially get better.

So good in fact that it will ruin our chances of a top 5 pick?

And we traded.....Dennis S who nobody wanted and I personally hated.

And Ellis, a undrafted yet over achieving role player.

And we are mad that we traded our future away by trading our.....2nd round....2029 pick.

All while freeing up space to sign our fan favorite backup Center

And potentially finally seeing what our 1st round Carter can do by getting rid of the log jam of guards

While also keeping our picks and still having our main trade bates intact?

Did i miss something?

There goes my favorite player. On paper I dont hate it.
But when you look at the context this is awful. We didnt extend Keon so we could sign schroder. We hated schroder so bad we wanted him gone that we needed to include 2nd and keon just to get an overpaid 28 year old forward who wont be here in a year.

Perry draft was fine, but after that its been terrible.

The Kings trades more often than not make sense. The question with them has and will forever be TIMING. They do things. Sometimes sensible things. Usually in the wrong order and/or at the wrong time. Always and forever. This deal is the definition of a why not scenario. Nothing more.

We didn’t want to sign Keon, if we did we just would have extended him or made him restricted. Fans can disagree with the team assessment of Keon but they could have kept him if they wanted to.

Also why are people saying the guard log jam is gone?
Assuming keegan is back soon
Sabonis, maxime, cardwell, Precious, keegan, hunter take all the 3-5 mins

Still have Monk, demar, lavine, russ, nique.

Even if Precious gets kicked out of the rotation, you still arent getting Carter minutes.

What we heard is they didnt over the summer because they wanted schroder. But they buried him so deep that he was never coming back. I disagree with the assessment and the handling of the asset.

I’d assume that’s only if we don’t buy out Deebo

Next season? They're making it sound like the Kings need to cut salary now. I'll give Perry enough credit to imagine he didn't accidently push himself into the luxury area with this deal. Although he obviously didn't realize that Schroder did far more harm than any good.

Another thing is we don't know what the conversations were between the Kings and Keons agent. You know, "the guy that gets his players PAID". This might have been a quick here's what we see you at, here's what they want and that was the end of that little bit, lol.

So far, yes. Let's wait to give him a final grade for the season after the next draft.

We were a few million below before the trade so I don’t think so?

Digesting this a bit... We'll see.

The idea of Hunter has always been vastly different than what Hunter actually puts out on the floor. He's a wing, but he hasn't been much more than an okay-ish starting level wing for most of his career. I'm not worried about his shooting this year, it's a pretty big outlier over what he's done the last 4-5 years.

As per usual, this can't be the only move and call it a day. Have to keep going with the teardown for this to make sense and allow it to really get Nique/Carter on the floor. Getting roster space for Cardwell is good too, which alleviates a potential problem this off-season by being able to convert him now.

I'm also not super convinced we "like" him and are just adding a 28 year old to our core moving forward. If he eventually leads to us flipping him for a rebuild asset and got us off the Dennis deal... That's good business, even if it cost Keon. Obviously a giant IF and cope wish-casting though.

I guess if we were going to lose Ellis (knowing he wouldn't sign or wants too much money) then this deal isn't so bad. Getting rid of Schroeder is a positive. Not sure where Hunter fits in tho. I always thought we wanted a rim protecting PF and move Keegan back to the 3. I guess Hunter comes off the bench.

If anyone thinks we won the trade then they’re wrong

In one sentence you insult ellis as an undrafted over achiever but is wanted by 5-8 teams that are playoff bound. Then you praise Caldwell who is overachieving and was a undrafted player as well lol

We are what we are as a fanbase. Great fandom but bipolar emotionally. Same group who though Siakam would be a terrible fit. We’ve been screaming for length and shooting. We get it and still complain. We honestly don’t know what we want, we just want someone to get us playoff wins but can’t articulate how. Monte did us no favors with the string of undersized guards he drafted. The one big guard he drafts he trades away in what everyone outside of Sac considers one of the worst trades in recent history. Perry may end up being awful but Monte’s vision of constructing a team with smalls that can guard but can’t shoot, led by a 1 that couldn’t shoot, and a 4/5 that’s your hub that can’t shoot is why we’re at where we are.

I feel like that too. Not sure why, but I am tired of talking about the warriors.

And if they are serious about teaming Keegan up with Hunter it does make some sense. That's a lot of skill. Kuminga has talent but the fit with Keegan, don't really see it. Hunter is a lot like Harrison Barnes, Kuminga is a little more DeMar DeRozan. Barnes > DeMar if Keegan is the main concern.

The fact that Ellis was wanted by a handful of teams is why I thought we could get a late FRP. I guess unloading Schroeder was the consolation prize.
