Shams Bomb! Keon Ellis and Dennis Schroder traded to Cleveland in 3 team deal. Kings acquire De’Andre Hunter

I think everyone is overrating Keon. I loved his effort, defense, and 3pt shooting. I watched him in his first summer league and knew he would be a key contributor in the NBA. But you can’t fix being undersized and slight. He’s not Lou Dort. He’s someone you can find in any draft that feels slighted cuz of being small and undervalued and will out effort anyone on the court
I am certain that we as fans overrated Keon. At the same time I am fairly certain our coaching team did not maximize his potential while he was here, it cost us games (last year), possibly our "star" player as well.

This is fair but the numbers said Keon deserved more time with us and Brown and Christie both ignored that.

I'm not sure Perry didn't just have his hands tied when the decision was made not to decline the option and re-sign him as an RFA last season. It seemed he was untouchable during the offseason trade window.

I’m not giving the idiot that doesn’t like Carter because he didn’t draft him the benefit of the doubt. Half of us told y’all Keon was gone when we brought in Schroeder and didn’t resign him and we were told that’s not the case

Totally agree. What Brown did last year was irrational and unjustifiable. I could care less of this year cuz the goal is to be in prime position for a top 5 pick

We don't need to give up asset to get him, not to mention this could sabotage our lottery chance. See how Bull is doing, get a player and get picks, this is what rebuilding teams has been doing. Smarter team can even flip that player for more picks like Nets doing with MPJ. Those team has been showing us how to do it right. But this team, idk man
Bulls have better record than us so according to your standards they also dont know what they doing.

So we make a trade that makes us better. (Not Happy)

We make a trade that would make us worse (not happy)

Got it

In a box, Dennis+Keon+2nd for Hunter is a decent win for us.

But why are we trying to get better right now? What happened to the rebuild? If we like him, are we really about to send him a 4-80 type deal? Why?? Why are we giving up any draft capital for a "win now" player?

What this screams to me is we think we can be competitive next year. And some of yall really complained about Monte, lol
We are giving yp 2029! Second! Round pick.

Get a grip yall. This is crazy. By all measures we won this trade. We got bigger and better for a free agent signing and Ellis.

Yall really expecting a 1st for Ellis? Whats he averaging 4 points?

Yall are crazy

If we make the Domas deal with Toronto (although with no Keon it won't be as "sweet", but if we did get a 2026 FRP at least) and take RJ maybe you have 3 wings that can stay healthy and you either get a high end prospect in the draft or if we fall a bit and have to draft a high end PG prospect we are at least flexible.

All of this requires the team to be thinking 3 steps ahead and there is no clear indication we are capable of doing that.
Currently the worst record in the league. I don’t think these types of moves are going to shoot us out of the dregs of the nba. I’m ok with Perry making moves to reshape/balance/modernize the roster in anticipation of getting a franchise cornerstone in the draft (god willing…) Get one more top ten pick next year for his running mate. I’m sure I will continue to complain a lot, but I’m willing to give him to the end of 2027 off season to convince me he has done a good job molding the team into his vision. However, that’s it….no way he gets this 3-5 year rebuild window he’s been trying to pitch.

For dennis? You gotta be kidding me.

If someone told me Ellis for hunter to start the season. Id have taken that in a freanin heartbeat

This is essentially Hunter for Keon, which feels like a pretty fair trade. Balances the roster by shipping out 2 guards for a full size wing.

Schroeder was a mistake and never should have been made and getting rid of his contract is a plus. Saric salary dump for a low 2nd round pick is bleh.

Hoping the extra roster spot is for another move to be made.

I’ve watched a ton of college ball and what I’ll tell you is I’ve seen a TON of guards I would rather have right now that are 17-18yo than Carter. He’s not him

Let's remember what the 2024 draft was going into it. Everyone said it was cheeks. We had the opportunity to trade that pick for an established player and didn't do it. I hope Carter gets a chance as we have nothing to lose but it was a bad pick.

Not that anyone should expect a top 4 pick by the end, but this certainly isn't a trade a team like this makes in order to get worse. Or even stay the same for that matter. This always felt like a season where Christie uses that last month to clean up his W/L record. Now unless they get really creative I think that plan is in FULL effect.

It was bad use. Also, remember who the names were attached to that pick, Cam Johnson and Kyle freaking Kuzma. Yeah, huge mistakes avoided there.

Well Carter is here how bout playing him and seeing what we have nobody is calling him a savior. This time next year he’s gonna be sold to a contender for dog crap for no reason

Well yeah, those were the targets that Monte had in mind. But we could have also gotten Deni with a similar package.

He doesn't have to be "him", but he can be something. The Kings usage of guards above him is literally nothing. Westbrook wasn't even going to be in the league this year and likely won't be in short fashion.

It was for Cam and allegedly they told the players it was done. For sure wouldn’t be a mistake we’d have cam which means we wouldn’t have signed Derozan and Fox/Brown probably stay

He is what he is. Another good on ball defender similar to Davion that can’t shoot. I said it last year, you could tell by his FT shot his form needed a ton of work and it still hasn’t improved

I thought it was Collins that was done? I can't even remember anymore. lol. Just mid of all mids to this day. That was at the deadline though.

Nah, give credit where it's due, he's augmented a lot of that arc from the free throws from the looks of it. That's one of those underrated signs from a young player and to do it in one offseason no less.

Eeehhhh…have you watched Hunter play this year? The roster makes more sense now but he’s about the same level player than Schroeder.
