If Hunter is as you say, why do you think the Kings would stay in last place? It sounds like he just improved the team?

My concern is Hunter playing us out of a top 5 pick.

We shall see how the rest of our roster plays out but guards are the easiest to replace versus forwards. The roster is more balanced going into the draft so we can take best player available and not have the cluster **** Monte created.

The person who traded Fox for Zach instead of a playable forward should get your ire.

I think with Keon he needs to be on a team that values disruption at the occasional expense of blow bys and cheap fouls. The way the Raptors play defense (gambling style) would have been an ideal fit. Other teams value leading with your chest/verticality/keep man in front of you style defense. Brown/Christie/Perry must be the latter

Just to be clear, if we had played Keon and he worked out and we not lost all those games to start the 2024-25 season, maybe we still have Fox and make the playoffs last year.

That's a lot of ifs, but my point is if Keon can jump right into a 24mpg role on a playoff team and make them better and we just sat on him that is the coaches' faults first and foremost.

It could be Hunter is now moved to Golden State for Kuminga. It works one on one in the ESPN trade machine.

This is fair but the numbers said Keon deserved more time with us and Brown and Christie both ignored that.

I'm not sure Perry didn't just have his hands tied when the decision was made not to decline the option and re-sign him as an RFA last season. It seemed he was untouchable during the offseason trade window.

This. Annoyed that it at least FEELS like this whole deal is intended to fix previous dumb off season decisions. 1. Signing Dennis, 2. Trading for saric, 3. Not locking up Ellis.

IGNORING all that… with one trade Perry did just make the composition of the roster a lot more logical. Even in a rebuild I’m not angry in theory about Hunter (although I think he’s been living off the faulty reputation as a good defender for some time now). He’s not ancient and could fill the Harrison Barnes vet role. The main problem is the dude is never healthy. Has never played more than 67 games in his career (about 55 games on average). I like the idea of finally seeing what Keegan can do with with a legit forward to pair with, but I don’t think we are going to see much of it.

I most certainly considered that. If it works straight up at least it somewhat squashes my concern we'll start playing to win.

However the usual bs reporters say we're excited about Hunter playing here so it will be funny (in a good way) if we do move him a few days later.

If there were plans on sending Hunter to another team that would've just been wrapped into this deal. Perry was obviously hunting for a F, he got one. Now to see if Hunters health holds up.

If we make the Domas deal with Toronto (although with no Keon it won't be as "sweet", but if we did get a 2026 FRP at least) and take RJ maybe you have 3 wings that can stay healthy and you either get a high end prospect in the draft or if we fall a bit and have to draft a high end PG prospect we are at least flexible.

All of this requires the team to be thinking 3 steps ahead and there is no clear indication we are capable of doing that.

I think everyone is overrating Keon. I loved his effort, defense, and 3pt shooting. I watched him in his first summer league and knew he would be a key contributor in the NBA. But you can’t fix being undersized and slight. He’s not Lou Dort. He’s someone you can find in any draft that feels slighted cuz of being small and undervalued and will out effort anyone on the court

One would think but with the new CBA you never know if the next deal could have weird restrictions. I do not think we are moving Hunter though.
