I guess there's no right or wrong answer to this. I'm curious, and I'm sure many others are as well, to know what Kings fans believe has been the bright spot of this season. There were definitely plenty of questionable decisions made that have contributed to this drama-filled season, but let's take a second and discuss some key positives for this team going forward. Obviously, we have acquired a hall-of-fame coach, and I'm sure that will be the bright spot for many, but for me, not so much. We already had a terrific coach who our team respected and we let him go. As great as Karl is, who knows whether he will be able to form the same bond with our core that Malone did. Could it have been the continued emergence of our beloved Boogie, who made the All-Star team this year?

Discuss.

Ray McCallum has shown that he's improving his passing. He's also getting better at finishing against bigger defenders.

Ben McLemore has shown signs that he can be a dangerous shooting threat if the planets align. Also, he's getting good experience, driving to the basket. It doesn't look like he has a lot of experience finishing at the basket, but here's to hoping he improves in the off-season

Nik Stauskas seems to be on pace to being a good player in this league. It looks like he more easily shakes off rookie jitters than McLemore. Hopefully he can become a shooting/point guard/Manu Ginobili-type player.

Derrick Williams' three point shot has gotten much better, and if we keep him, could be useful in the coming years.

There's your young person report.

I think the high point of the season for me was the start we made until Cuz was injured or sick and missed significant time. I was amazed and riding high. So that was it for me.

Quite honestly Nik has been my biggest disappointment as far as our youth goes.

Darren Collison exceeding my expectations, Ben show he belongs in the league after a horrid first season and DeMarcus making the all-star team.

Hmmm.... Definitely our hot start, which is now bittersweet for obvious reasons.

Cuz making his first all-star appearance is great. He will be back, hopefully as a King.

And of course, it's nice to see Vlade back with the franchise.

I was initially excited about Karl, but I think the jury is still out. I'm not judging him on his results, so much as what he is saying after games (he may in fact be a Vivek cyborg). Still, he is a heckuva coach, so who knows how good we will be next season after training camp and some roster moves. If we HAVE to fool around with PACE, then it might as well be with Karl leading the charge.

Cuz obviously breaking through and starting to get his accolades. Of course since that may only increase pressure on us to put a winner around him, it could be bad development in the end.

Enough impressed with what Cuz/Rudy/Collison could do together to think they might be the core of a winning team for Karl, but its hard to consider so much uncertainty a real bright spot. Just potential.

I've been pleasantly surprised by Collison as a starter. I wasn't a fan prior to his signing, but he's been consistent, and more versatile then expected. He's also got a good contract. Hopefully we don't screw this up by looking to fix what isn't broken. We desperately need rotation guys, spending resources upgrading the PG spot shouldn't be a priority.

I will never forget the hot start with Malone before Cousins got sick. This team, for the first time since i've been a fan, actually looked like a winner. Crossing my fingers that Karl can find a way to bring us back.

Hot start playing defense for once. All the debate, analysis, and talk about that tipped ball that wrongfully cost us a game and how we were saying about it maybe mattering come playoff time. We were winning for the first time in a very long time in a way that made it look like we could continue playing the same way in the playoffs and have some success.

I would say DeMarcus recovering from illness and showing no long lasting physicals issues. Health, we take it for granted.

Followed by in no specific order:
Team USA for Cuz and Rudy.
All Star for the Big Fella.
Going 10 and 5 and striking fear into teams like Memphis:)
Karl being hired.
Watching Ben have great games.
Seeing Nik show some signs of what the future holds.
Watching Players around the Association show respect.
Having Pop speak publicly defending Mike Malone.

Bright SPOT ??

That it is almost over !

It has been an especially painful year. The hot start followed by the Front Office Follies that caused an EPIC COLLAPSE and the team settling back into their losing mentality with such ease. It does not bode well for the future. I have no confidence in the front office at this point. Hopefully Vlade will come in and inject some common sense and a nose for talent.

In order:

1- the downtown ESC going vertical, reminding us that were one year closer to the future

2- Vlade

3- DC is very good. Right now he looks good enough to start for a playoff team - he plays D, is good at initiating the offense, and has a knack for getting buckets when out main options are struggling.

4- our 2015 pick. This team is thin and needs help. The injury bug that we suffered this year is mainly guys missing time for things that should only be a one year issue. Coming back with full strength and a rookie from the lottery will be good. We've had two decent drafts, hopefully we finally hit a home run this year (knock on wood)

5- Ben is vastly improved. He is still inconsistent, but he can also be a great player if he continues to develop.

6- getting Karl. Obviously this is a bittersweet bright spot because of the massive wreck that preceded it, but this was probably the best solution. I'd rather have Malone to see what he can do over 10 years + (or to find out if the early season was a fluke), but I'm happy we have our coach today.

7- Stauskas has shown potential. Not a lot, but not a total bust. Enough to be optimistic about what he can bring back next year. His play also seems to mesh with our top 5, and he could make a valuable rotation player if he continues to develop.

8- cap space going into the off-season. With D-Will's contract expiring, we will have some money to fill some holes on this team, whether it be to get more shooting or another 7 footer to provide some relief to Cuz. If we fill one need in the draft, we can try to fill another via FA, which is a nice pair of tools to have to try to shore up the roster
