Scouting report on Hilton Armstrong

I posted that earlier over in the main Hilton thread, but it got buried and I'll leave it here as kind of an introduction to him as a player.

Note however, you can't just post the whole thing like that. Link and blurb, not copy paste of the whole article.

I am not sure if we care if he can shoot or not. He can rebound and block shots. Just not sure about his defense.

Showtime, did Hilton sleep with your wive or something?! I can tell you don't seem like him. :D
I dislike him as a player because I've watched him suck it up on the court for the past 3 seasons with the hornets. He can't play.

Well I agree wiht you about the shooting, but actually he's a pretty poor rebounder, and the shotblocking hasn't really translated either.

Here's his career stats:

209gms 12.9min 3.6pts (.513 .000 .605) 2.7reb 0.4ast 0.3stl 0.5blk 0.9TO

Now that I am satisfied the financials are a wash (even if I doubt we use him -- this feels more like an ultra-cheap patch saying you want a tall guy? Here's a tall guy. We just have consistently refused to spend assets to get a quality shotblocker/rebounder because we undervalue them), its really a nothing move. But that nothing probably extends to the player as well. Let's just say that this is likely his last chance in the NBA -- like Diogu and Simmons and Justin and Booth and Potapenko and etc. etc., pretty much if he can't shape up and impress in his months with us, he's probably not going to get a call from another team.

Here's my take on Armstrong.

Actually there's a certain irony in us getting Armstrong from the Hornets--during the 2006 Draft the Hornets got two lottery picks in Hilton Armstrong and Cedric Simmons. And both somehow ended up in our laps at the end.

I traded for Armstrong on NBA2k10 and played him the next game behind JT, Spence and Brock. Only got a few minutes, but in those few minutes - I threw him 5 passes, 3 of them went right through his hands! :p

I hope this isn't a preview of what's to come.

You do realize that Frye is one of the league's top 3 PT shooters, right? Hilton makes JT look like Mark Price.

I know... but that's what i meant. I'd still dislike having Channing Frye. I want my big PF/C to protect the lane and rebound.

Edit: Oh I reckoned there might've been a misunderstanding. The best/worst case were from the draftexpress.com scouting report. I didn't just call Hilton Armstrong a Channing Frye-esque shooter.
