Just like with the Bucks loss, one loss against an eastern conference playoff team that you’re never going to see again unless the truly unexpected happens probably isn’t enough to warrant hitting the panic button.

the game against the Wolves at the end of this road trip looms large though.

Portland playing good ball as of late. 8-2 in their last 10, currently on a 4 game win streak. What’s going on up there @pdxKingsFan?
I honestly don't know. Because there's 5 or 6 players rumored to be packaged out and they aren't making a push for anything jeez they may have a harder time firing Chauncey now.

They better suck on Thursday though!

Ummm what the hell is going on in Portland? They just played last night end destroyed the Pacers on the second night of a back to back. Yikes @ Hali’s numbers btw

To be fair the Pacers also played last night and they were coming from a trip and a tough match at Utah. Still Portland's match went to overtime.

Off topic I like the graphic/stats that are shown during the Blazers game, quite frequent it appears with big boxes how many points the player that just scored has, they stand out compared with the rest of NBA, also at the free throw line they have a unique way of showing the player's percentage when he is about to shoot. It's been a fun team to watch and I wonder who will leave the club at deadline, is there anyone else rumored apart from "Timelord"?

Of course, now the Kings have neither Haliburton nor Fox. Whether one finds it a negative or a positive, the Kings would have very likely still have Haliburton on the team at this point if it had been a Fox/Sabonis trade instead.

Much has occurred since then so it is impossible to postulate what would have happened with the team. The King would have likely been very different from building a team around Haliburton (if at all) than the building of a team around Fox.

The trouble is, there was no Fox-for-Sabonis trade to be had. The Pacers were interested in Haliburton. Fox's value wasn't particularly high at the time of the trade, but even if it was, your trade partner has to want the player you want to part with. There was no indication that the Pacers were interested in Fox. The Kings could have eventually moved him for a package that got them less than the All-NBA big they got in return for Haliburton, so I guess you have to decide if Haliburton/?? would have been a better possible future than the Kings present of Sabonis/LaVine/Monk (who was attracted to Sacramento in part because of his connection to Fox).

In the end, you're probably not a contender with either Fox or Haliburton as the centerpiece of your team. Hali's younger, though a worse defender, and they both inexplicably disappear on their teams for stretches. Star talent needs to be dependable in the NBA. You have to be able to count on it. And I don't really believe in either player as a dependable star that can carry their team over the finish line with consistency. Fox has that "it factor", and honestly, so does Haliburton. So it's weird that neither of them can pull it out of themselves with the necessary regularity.

Nobody in the national media will ever address this or admit it, but the Kings fared far better IMO.
Like how nobody is addressing now why the bleep Domas is not an All-star while Segun is :)
When the trade happened I was "Who the bleep is Hali"? After some time reading and watching I was 'OK, Hali is good". But Domas was better even then. Hali probably will be very good and he was a PG that Carlisle likes. Domas was a C that Carlisle didn't like. Not because Domas is a bad C, but Carlisle likes his teams to play planned, structured game. Domas is a point C who is best when roams freely all over the court and is free to improvise. Free to make his own decisions, adjustments.
Hali at the trade had potential to develop much more and he did, though Domas was not a finished product wither :)
Hali is a very good PG and Pacers play well. Still, sometimes he has games like the one in Portland or when he goes 0/7 from the distance.
Anyway, back to the Western Conference. We better win next 2 games. Just for the sake of getting bad woo-doo completely out from the locker room. Last 2 games with the Fox in Sac uni were not a pretty ones.

It's fun when direct competitors in standings blunder. Still, Kings must do what they must. Win games. MB was not the proper coach for such tasks. I hope Doug will be. Then - aim to be in the top 6 in the West. Simple.

Yeah i look at Halis line last night and how the Blazers just smoked the Pacers all game. When's the last time a Luka/sga/jokic/giannis put up a 0 pt 6 ast 2 reb game?

More and more starting to realize how wide the gap is from the generational franchise player to the all-star and even fringe all-nba guys really is. Hali and Fox are awesome players, but they're better suited to being support guys to a true #1

To that point, Domas has a bad game against Minnesota and still put up a double double.

The thing with Fox is he's pretty clearly amazing when he is on but when he is off I'm not even sure he's a #2 guy.

I alluded to him being "Chris Bosh" in the Miami trio and I think when San Antonio makes that leap it's a good possibility. I doubt San Antonio is going to crack the top 4 next year unless Hoston, OKC, Denver all fall off and Ja pulls a gun on someone.
