Note: Shelden Williams and Quincy Douby will most likely be unrestricted free agents at the end of the year as it has been announced by the Kings their options will not be exercised.

Note2: Bobby Brown has a player option, as opposed to a team option as shown above.

There's been a lot of discussion about salaries for the Kings. I thought putting this here might be helpful...

:)

Thanks, VF! I'm sure it will be useful.

Two notes: This table does not reflect the fact that Shelden and Douby's team options for '09-'10 were not picked up - they will be unrestricted free agents this summer. Also, I believe everywhere I have seen Brown's option mentioned, it was a player option and not a team option as listed here. I don't know which is right.

I made notes above based on your comments.

Thanks for the table - we should be major players in the 2013 FA market.

yikes... Beno's contract just makes me sad.

think of it this way...if we draft a PG who is good enough to replace him, Beno's contract will be expiring the same time the rook's 2nd level contract kicks in. and if brad and kt get moved, and sar retires, we'll have plenty of mobility and cap space so beno's contract is gonna be somewhat insignificant.

I don't remember Beno being THAT good last year, where he deserved a contract like that. I wish we would have let him walk and signed Arroyo to a 1 yr deal.

This was one of those inflated by cause of market sort of deals. Beno played well, displayed chemistry with his teammates, and the thought was that we could have an above average PG that would only continue to develop with the rest of our young cast.

However, management did not take into account the fact that this was a career year... playing for a contract... and they were hurried by the clipper's offer. Not the worst of contracts this management has dished out, but not very well thought out. It seemed to reflect that when they gave him this they were NOT in rebuilding more, as this handicapps us for the forseeable future at the PG position. What was the thinking? We're going to be instant contenders from this year on? Now you're screwed, nobody will take him unless they are more desperate than we are for a PG, and actual PG, or if you are somehow able to obtain a PG that's actually good (sweet merciful jesus no!) you're going to be paying his backup 6 mil a year. The saddest part about that is that again... not the worst of situations this front office has put us in.

In a different situation, on a different team... not a bad contract. For us - not so much.
