*Sign and Trade Ron Artest: 5 Yrs/$52M -- starting @ $8.4M and inflating +$1M/yr


Artest + SAR + 1st round pick to NY for Rose + James + Balkman + 1st round pick

All three would be expirings, and Balkman would have a chance to stick. SAR gets buried on their bench just like Rose and Artest is at home. We move up to a cushy spot in the draft, essentially getting something for Artest.

Richardson/Collins
Artest/Jeffries/Chandler
Randolph/Lee/SAR
Curry/Morris

With our pick NY will probably want a Center. Thabeet, McGee and Hibbert should be available around there. We, on the other hand, get a clean swipe at DeAndre Jordan and clear a bunch of cash.


One would think that NY would just want to keep Jordan and move forward but Isiah will panic as the media and fans come down on him and will push for Artest a year early. GP can approach it from the angle that he is going to S&T Artest and he wanted to offer him up to NY first before he goes to other teams. And since GP wouldn't be asking for Lee, Isiah won't resist. ;)

Sorry Bawla. I'm really not trying to disagree with you, but I'm not a Balkman fan. I would do the deal if it included Lee. Hate to say it, but Jordan hasn't impressed me lately. Not counting the last game where he was sick. I wouldn't cry if we drafted him though. Just please, NO Balkman. The dude is just another small forward type with absolutely no outside shot.

I stated that Balkman would have a chance to stick. I didn't mean I want him to. But we could at least give him a chance to prove himself.

I think the deal would go nowhere if we demanded Lee. But if we avoid Lee altogether, Isiah might be all ears. GP could use your argument that Jordan has been less impressive and that Artest + our pick would do their team more. ;)
