Great job by Ka-Powell! I'd like to think that her being named into the ASG really lifted her spirits.

But the cynical side of me also says that the Liberty is awful, and that she probably wouldn't have gotten that many points against a better team.

Still, a solid win! And we could use that whenever we can get!

Nicole was a basketball wizard last night!

Nicole was a basketball wizard last night! OMG she outperformed just about everyone in the league and very little is being made of it. Amazing, highwire rebounds, grabbing them out of thin air like a magician! She not only played beyond any ordinary mortal, she gave the team new heart and everyone stepped up as a result. Hip, hip, hooray for Nicole Powell and the Monarchs--Coach Whiz too!

Yolanda Griffith was an exceptional player with the Monarchs and an invaluable leader. She and Ticha guided our ladies to the only basketball championship this city has ever seen. I will always be grateful to her for that. No need to apologize AFAIC.

Great win last night especially coming from off a disappointing loss the previous night. Powell really showed her potential last night. Hopefully she can key off that performance for the rest of the season and start shooting at better then 38%.

More so then Powell showing her potential, I believe the Monarchs did too. Even with an outstanding Powell game, the game was a nicely balanced team effort on both sides of the court.

Best yet, with the game last night as close to a "must win" game for a 3 - 14 team, they came through for a solid win. With Brunson coming back on the court, this team may hit their stride yet!
