Not sure where this fellow is getting his information, but he says that the Maloofs may have already filed for relocation under the radar, contrary to their media stance that their is no new news on that front. He says that a committee may already be formed to study it, and that the NBA may try to fastrack and streamline the approval process to get it decided way before the 120 day window of discussion because of the NBA lockout looming.

I certainly don't think they are bad guys, and perhaps this is just the way people who have lots of money were able to get lots of money, but I am pretty disheartened by the way the Maloofs have handled everything and it appears lied to us fans along the way.

I am going to these last two games and shouting my head off not because I believe the Maloofs give one care about what I or the other fans think, but because the Sacramento Kings are my family. A part of me even wishes the Maloofs wouldn't even show so we can be there just for the players, and share with them what may be our last special moments that was unlike any other team/fan relationship in the league.

I love how he said "Another publication hinted that Stern might ask the Maloofs to delay their plans to move until after the lockout, but that sounds like pure speculation". But everything in his unsourced article about the Maloofs already filing is supposed to be more than speculation, right?

Well, if you're wrong, you can always print a retraction later. Reminds me of a friend who started a rumor via twitter to spread to a message board who confirmed it via twitter. It made it to ESPN before they retracted the story.

Yeah, looks like a lot of speculation. Of course, at this point I don't think it's about whether or not the Maloofs want to file, it's about whether or not the Maloofs will be able to follow through. Can they pay back the Sacramento loan? Will Anaheim be forced to retract its bonds? Will Steinberg get his legislation through? Are the terms with Samueli reasonable for them? There is always that nagging possibility that Comcast might come up with a significantly upped TV contract that could make things look a lot rosier to stick around if coupled with an encouraging report from Taylor/ICON, but that's pretty clearly Plan B right now. It's about whether the financial hurdles can be cleared. Filing for relocation is an expected step, frankly.

Agree with all of this.

Exactly. Maloofs won't know what their total cost of moving will be until they actually file for relocation. Relocation fees and territorial rights fees (if any) have yet to be determined and won't until the paperwork is filed.

Agree with all of this.

I tend to agree with everything CF said too. I think at some point about a month ago and even maybe up to the Anaheim bond vote they thought things were going smoothly and they were on the easy street out of Sacramento. But right now, I think the 'oh s*@&' factor is kicking in from the past week or so's happenings, i.e.: Steinberg legislation, potential Comcast/Universal dealings, etc. The next week or so should be REALLY interesting! All I gotta say is we're in their heads, let's keep fighting!!

What might come out of this is a family in a financial mess that puts an area into a panic (at least some of us) and an arena finally get's started. There just might be a huge win for us in this and the Maloofs might not come out so bad after all here in River City. Perhaps this whole mess might have a happy ending. I certainly agree with what every body is agreeing on.

As events continue to evolve, the odds are shifting in our direction.

I have wondered if this weren't a plan on their part all along... who knows.

Do you really think they're not talking to each other? The relocation fees are likely to be $50M exactly. Stern is driving this entire thing.

Like when he commented at the All Star game; that wasn't off-the-cuff, it was a cold calculation. He only said that because he was pretty sure it was a done-deal.

Then why do they want to talk at the BoG meeting? Stern doesnt set the fees.

I have thought all along that the Maloofs, the league, Anaheim would deliberately wait to announce a move until season end. So in that sense it could reasonably be true that it is a done deal and we'll hear on the 14th. It's reasonable that they wouldn't want to close the door until the season is over. With that in mind I don't know what to think.

Has the league already built a '11/'12 schedule assuming a move? Certainly a practical question. Not much time left.

If we in Sacramento are going to get good news, it will have to happen quick. Season tickets, either way, are the life blood of the business.

We do know the ship "Kings" is getting ready to head to SoCal. So far any good news has been kept very secret.

They dont do the schedule till august. But right now they dont know if there will be a season or how many games in one.

I think if they knew all the fees upfront, the Maloofs would either already have the moving vans backed up to Arco, or they would be letting us know they are staying.

I've thought that...but I would be more likely to believe it if they didn't withhold financial records from Taylor/ICON a few months ago. If what they really wanted was an arena in Sac, I think they would have gladly handed their findings over...

Indeed...and like I said earlier, they had smooth sailing with this whole process...enter John Dangberg's ultimatum, enter Darrell Steinberg's bill, and enter the possibility of putting the family in deeper guaranteed debt after repaying the loan here...OH S*#%!! I don't think borrowing $100-200 million(or however much it takes) from Samueli to 'help' with relocation costs, etc. would be the smartest thing on their behalf either? So...being patient for another year here doesn't seem like THAT bad an idea afterall, eh?:D

And lose out on the ticket sales that they've been getting from Here We Stay, Here We Build, and the rest? Yeah right. They want to get as much $$ as possible before they try to leave town.

The real sickening thought is that with each ticket people buy for the final home game, the closer the Maloofs come to paying off their debts...

All I know is that everyone I have talked to in the Sac Metro area thinks they are gone. That's not to say that some believe that isn't over yet. I get that. But there are a lot of people out there who have either given up or don't care.

That'sw what sucks about the Maloofs silence. No one knows for sure what is going on, so everyone jumps to their own conclusions. If they HAVEN'T filed yet, maybe there's a reason. Maybe there are stumbling blocks in the negotiation that they are not going to be a blew to get past. Maybe everything is going perfectly, and they're just trying to sell tickets in Sac by not filing yet. No one knows. I am assuming they will file. But who knows if they can afford the move...

Probably...but the Maloofs will be a lot lighter in the pocket than they thought after the fact.

I'm going to the game, because I want to root for my team. I'd go even if if they'd announced approval of a move to Anaheim, before I bought my ticket. My passion for the Kings has nothing to do with who owns them.
