Rotation for the rest of the season?

Now, even though this is after a pretty big win (both for my psyche and the teams,) just remember my emotions are entirely in check. I thought this would be a proper time to discuss the rotation for the rest of the year.

My theory:

Jason needs to start. Sorry Mikki, but these two point, one rebound games are less than inspiring. Sure Mikki, maybe you get Shelden minutes. Keep him at 15-20 a game because at times, you just need a veteran in there. It is also nice to have his hustle and energy. But Jason has double what Mikki has. And frankly, I don't cringe when he goes in the post.

Greene needs minutes as well. I don't know where they come from, but maybe use him as THE primary John Salmons backup, and Cisco as the primary Kevin backup as well as him spelling Beno here and there.

So, here we go.

C- Miller, 25-30 on any given night. Hawes, 25-30 on any given night. Mikki maybe gets a few minutes here when we go small. NO SHELDEN.
PF- Thompson, 25-30 oagn, Hawes 5-10 alongside Miller, again, Mikki 5-10. NO KT and NO SHELDEN. Maybe Donte against the Warriors. but HEY
SF- Salmons, 30-40 minutes oagn, Donte gets 10-20 depending on how he plays, Cisco, 5-10 alongside Kevin
SG- Kevin, 35 at least depending on his defense, so 35-40, which leaves Cisco at about 10-15 here.
PG- Beno, 30-40 oagn, again either Brown or Jackson 10-15, and Cisco alongside Kevin and Salmons or Kevin and Donte for about 5-10.

I know the minutes don't mathematically work out correctly, which is why I arranged this so loosely.

Thoughts? BTW this plan gives Cisco about 25 minutes a game minimum, so I think that is just about right.

Any palatable rotation for the rest of the season needs to prominently involve either some sort of significant injury or Brad and Mikki getting solid minutes for another team. As it stands right now there is no way to get minutes to all the people who need them (or at least no realistic way).

These are the princples:

1) Kevin needs to start
2) Hawes needs to start or play 25+
3) Thompson needs to start or play 25+
4) Greene needs a consistent role in the rotation
5) Cisco needs 20+ min a game
6) Beno needs to start

Unfortunately with all of those needs, there are far too many minutes and roles accounted for by Brad, Mikki, John, Bobby etc. to allow for all of it. So either you lose your principles, or you have to releive the pressure.

Mikki needs to be traded. That way, it clears up some minutes for Donte at the backup 4 spot.

Beno/Brown/Jackson (switch The Bobbies depending on play)
Martin/Garcia/Jackson
Salmons/Greene/Garcia
Thompson/Hawes/Greene
Miller/Hawes

Yeah I think first and formost Mikki must go. Hawes, Thompson, and Miller taking on the PF/C spots. Now it gets tricky. Having SG/SF and 4 players. Obviously Green won't play the 2 and Cisco can't get enough min just coming in at the 2 for Martin. So what to do? Well unfortunatley for the Bobbies I think unless Salmons is traded I think Garcia will steal some pg minutes.
Bottom line. Mikki and John must go to give the kids time. Salmons stock should be high right now. Miller should stay unless we get a viable option to spell JT and Spence at the PF/C.

Hard to find fault with any of those points. Doing so probably insures a lot of inconsistancy in the short term, but would reap huge rewards in the long term. Sadly, as much as I want that to happen, I doubt that it will. I give Reggie props for starting Greene tonight. My fear, is that its an abberation. I hope that I'm wrong.

As thin as the Kings are (no Martin, Moore, Garcia) what was the alternative to NOT starting Donte Greene tonight? The only other viable option was starting BJax or Douby. Even if BJax or Douby had started I still think Greene would have played 15 or so minutes which is what he would now seem to deserve on most nights going forward. A far cry from his zero to 5 mins before. Starting Greene against New Orleans made a lot of sense since moving Salmons into the back court had him checking CP3. It was a great coaching call. Salmons is the Kings best defensive player (which may not be saying tons) so you want him when possible to guard the best player on the other team. Down the road there will be match-ups favoring the use of Donte so I expect he'll be moving right on up the depth chart as some others slide back into oblivion (Douby, Williams, etal). What a NICE problem for Reggie Theus to have once Kevin and Cisco return - now knowing he has sooo much more depth than he ever dreamed before in his injury riddled tenure as head coach.

Okay, I hate to be the one to bring up the elephant in the living room, so to speak, but we aren't going to have to worry about finding minutes for everyone. Hello? Remember the plague of the "turnips"??? I have no reason whatsoever to believe it will miraculously come to an end...

If Garcia is in last years form I would like to see him get about 25-30mpg.

The only player I would like to see getting 40mpg is Martin. The rest should fight for their minutes. Whoever is playing best should be getting the minutes.
