Rondo out! Time to Trade IT to Boston

http://basketball.realgm.com/tradechecker/saved_trade/6217697

IT/Honeycutt/Salmons for Melo/Jeff Green

This could turn our season around!
Boston is too loaded up front and could really use wing players.

We narrow down our PG rotation with Jimmer, Brooks, and occasional Reke.
Jeff Green at SF may not spread the perimeter but he could help save Jimmer within the starting rotation next to Reke.

I don't think there's a snowball's chance BOS trades Green at this point, especially with trade talk for Pierce heating up. Plus, I don't think out season can turn around under any scenario where Brooks is our starting PG, but maybe that's just me.

No. It's definitely not just you!

I don't think people were watching earlier in the season, but Reke and Brooks worked quite well together actually when Brooks was starting. The problem being that I think Cousins hates him. Might be less of a problem though if his pal IT were not in town, so Brooks wasn't starting over his friend.

Consider this. Here our oour guards and their shooting percentages this season:

TyrekeEv .473 .390 .777 14.9pts
Thronton .409 .350 .847 11.9pts
IsThomas .436 .317 .861 11.1pts
AarBrooks .465 .384 .771 8.6pts
JFredette .415 .421 .915 7.7pts

Now just logically speaking, if you pull the two guys who are shooting well out of that morass and put out

SG Evans .473 .390 .777
PG Brooks .465 .384 .771

Then that's a good shooting backcourt.

Yeah that's great but we need a point guard who can actually distribute the ball and run an offense. Obviously, we don't really have anybody like that on our team but Kevin's original point still stands. With Brooks starting the rest of the year we will continue to be awful.

Sadly, with the trade deadline likely to be quiet for us, we don't have any options. It's going to be .325 basketball from here on out with whomever starts in the backcourt.

Wouldnt mind moving IT, just so Dum Dum doesnt play him anymore. IT is turrible. He'd be a 3rd stringer at best on ANY other team. So glad GP and Smart are gone this offseason.

Say IT's shooting last season is his upside. Then he's a below avg backup with above avg backup potential (vs above avg backup with starter potential the abbreviated rookie season hinted at).
At a minimum salary, on a team that need's it's PG to make plays (Boston), IT has some value.

It's hard to see a move for Jeff Green working though. He is just not that good but paid like he is, although I would gladly swap him for Salmons/IT, or Outlaw/Hayes/IT if they toss back Melo.

More likely is something like IT/Honeycutt for Melo and a 2nd rounder, which I would not hate.

Just throwing this out there... Toronto is reportedly shopping Lowry. Although given the news, it's probably more likely Boston makes a move for him at this point. Nobody else really thinks they're a title contender, but they're hitched to the Pierce/Garnett train so they have to do something.

I'd love Lowry, but doubt such a deal could be pulled off with the ownership situation up in the air.

I wouldn't get rid of Isaiah Thomas! He's great! We're (unfortunately) already getting rid of Tyreke, and if we could get rid of Brooks, we will've narrowed down our G rotation sufficiently.
