Collison is still a hugely important player for us. His minutes will likely go down this year, but his chemistry with Rudy, Ben, and DeMarcus is going to be an advantage off the bench. He can step in regardless of who else is on the floor and run the offense competently. He should still get plenty of those little elbow pullup jumpers he loves and open corner threes. He might not be happy about being demoted, but it should be pretty clear once the season starts that he's not being undervalued, just asked to fill a different role this year on a more competitive team.

The thing is, if Collison outperforms Rondo, which is a distinct possibility, can you have Rondo come of the bench without becoming a team killing cancer?
Thats why I hope the FO talked to him about that being a possibility

Absolutely love the move. I have always been a huge Rondo fan. I know he had a rough stint in Dallas, but man was he impressive in Boston. I thought he was the best PG in the league a few years back when the Cs when they were on their last legs (look to the 2012 ECF if you need evidence). I hope he impresses here and signs a high paying 2 or 3 year deal in 2016 with us. Gay, Boogie and Rondo could be quite a trio.

I doubt it and I hope not. You don't motivate a vet like Rondo by treating him like a bltch. I'm sure Vlade and Karl both know that.
well come-on man of course they didn't talk to him like that... But making sure he understands he will have the opportunity to play and earn more time vs just letting him come in here and be disappointed he's not starting ... that could be disastrous immediately

And then Collison would become the sacrificial lamb. The good guy, the better player, gets screwed.

I think you can, and after what just happened you have to know that the Kings talked to him about that meltdown and having time but that doesn't mean your automatically the starter

BTW check out DC's percentages from the corner 3's. He's a true floor stretcher in those zones, part of the reason he was so good for the Clippers.

I like that Rudy wants him here. I feel like maybe that will help Rondo. I dunno, 1 year deal fugg it.

Hope Rondo can go Vernon Maxwell style.
The key is Rondo wants to play with Rudy and wants a big contract next summer. Odds of Rondo giving us his best is high. There is the Karl factor though.

This is what I'm holding on to. Rudy won't let Rondo get out of control, nor do I think Rondo would cause problems playing with one of his friends.
Rondo's problems have been with his coach. He butted heads with Doc Rivers in Boston time and time again. As Garnett said in that article. Rondo doesn't like being told what to do. Hopefully with Karl, a coach that gives his PG's a lot of freedom, it will work out. I'm not a fan of this move, but he's here, and I hope he has the best season of his career. Welcome Rondo!

PLAYOFFS BABY.

Rondo will show up guarantee it.

Boogie n rudy remain the cornerstones of our offense and will get better looks with rondo running the show. Integrating bello into our offense will be low touch. It's not like we just brought in josh smith or so, someone who would take touches away.

Our bench just got better

Our starting unit has a great balance of defence

We are the greatest. GO KINGS

I swear, some of you could win $10 million and you'd be worried about whether it was $100's or $20's. Why not just be happy FOR A MINUTE OR TWO before you start finding reasons to be talking about the potential for disaster?

Bingo.
If Rondo is getting paid big money next season and we lose him, that means by definition that we've been successful -
where's the losing scenario there?
If it goes BOOM with Cousins and Rondo and Karl and the FO, oh yeah, there's a downside. The Kings rep will go so far down that they'll be looking up at Hades. It can always get worse.

Props to Rudy for being a Pro and doing what a star of a team should be doing.
Another "Glass half full" take on this is that at least Rudy believes in this team enough to recruit a friend here. If he felt the dumpster fire would continue he'd keep anyone he cared about away.

It's a low risk type of deal so I don't mind....I don't see Rondo being here after this season anyways. He will be using the Kings to build his stats again and show he deserves a long term deal.
10 million dollars isn't a low risk. We did this in hopes that he plays well and re-signs like Rudy did.
