Rondo agrees to one year deal w/Kings for $10m

I'll man up and say that Vlade had indeed saved a disastrous offseason. Rondo and Belineli and we still have some room! At the very least we'll be fun to watch next season.

I think with all the nerves and smoke and leaks and internal conflicts, people aren't quite realizing yet that Vlade, and Vlade alone, is putting together not just an acceptable offseason, not just a needed offseason, but absolutely knocking it out of the park. Rondo + Belinelli + 12 mil still in capspace to sign a very gettable free agent of our choosing (snowball effect starting now)... plus an excellent draft pick... just look at our roster now. It's all of the sudden VERY, VERY solid. And our defense has taken huge steps forward in talent.

Even before the next signing or two... my gut tells me Vlade is in the running for Exec of the year.

Hopefully he kills it and we don't have to pay 20 mill to keep him next year but sheesh, even if he helps us turn things around and build something then next year we are a viable destination again.

now the question becomes how Collison will take coming off the bench...or if we play them together in the starting unit
I have to say Collision more than earned the starting job ... he signed right away to be here... no games

plus he played absolutely great, is a solid guy all around thats signed for more than one year. He's the started day one... I hope they talked to Rondo about him coming off the bench possibly

I could see a lineup of Collison/Rondo/Gay/WCS/Cousins working. It's not like Collison can't shoot the corner three or midrange jumper, on the kickout from Rondo. PNR with Rondo/Gay or Rondo/Cuz or Gay/Cuz with Collison cutting, and spotting up, sounds great!

Rondo was not signed to come off the bench. I'll put money on that.
He was signed because no one else was even mildly interested and he's lucky to be playing anywhere lol! .... He wants to start but I hope the Kings leadership said you will need to earn your mins and job... isn't that the point of this 1 year deal anyway... if you earn it you can have it.

Absolutely. Add in Belli, Ben and Casspi and were suddenly 8 deep with room to sign another big and even Ray Mac still around at the end of the bench. There are tons of interesting lineups for Karl to play with.

This is a solid team. It's kinda insane that the chaos of the last few years has led to a very solid and deep squad. I never thought I'd see the Kings get two solid FA pickups on reasonable deals, especially after this last year, but I suppose Vlade should be the one to do it.

A player with a bottom of the barrel rep comes to the Kings with a bottom of the barrel rep. It totally fits!
It's kindof a Sacramento Kings specialty taking in players who've worn out their welcome somewhere else isn't it?

I doubt it and I hope not. You don't motivate a vet like Rondo by treating him like a bltch. I'm sure Vlade and Karl both know that.

The thing is, if Collison outperforms Rondo, which is a distinct possibility, can you have Rondo come of the bench without becoming a team killing cancer?

1 year deal is a good risk to take. How much cap room do we still have left to finish the roster? Still need a front court player.

And why has Rondo left WITHOUT signing? Kinda concerning. Hopefully not using the Kings FO as leverage to get a deal elsewhere. I mean, it's not like that's ever happened.
Told you he would sign. He just had to go over to 5 guys burgers and fries by the arena first before making his decision.
Now it's finalized :D
