The Sacramento River Cats won the Triple-A Championship in Oklahoma City on Tuesday, giving the team back-to-back minor league titles.

The team clinched its fourth Pacific Coast League title in the past six years earlier this week.

On Tuesday, the team defeated the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees 4-1.

The Sacramento team, an affiliate of the Oakland A’s, has lead minor league baseball in attendance for each of its nine seasons. Forbes magazine in August named the team the most valuable in minor league baseball, worth $29.8 million.

In 2006 the team’s general manager, Alan Ledford, was named minor league executive of the year

Now we need to get Sac state going on that list...

How long do you all think it will be before Sac gets a major league team?

The good thing about moving the A's to Sac is that we would keep the fanbase that drive to Oakland from Sac/Stockton/Modesto/Elk Grove ect ect.. The Rivercats already draw close to what the A's do..

With all this talk about Cal Expo being a spot for the Kings would you think they would use that as a talking point for putting a major league stadium in Sac or would they go with Raley Field and expand? Wasn't Raley Field build with the option to renovate it into a larger Major League field which could support two decks, and have upwards of 40k people a night?

I cannot imagine a different area than Raley Field to play.. Think of this backdrop on a summer night with the A's playing the Yankees or something. (of course you would have to put in some bleachers, but the idea of having that skyline in the background is awesome)

Unfortunately, it has been made quite clear that Raley field cannot be expanded into a major league stadium. It was built with the intention of it being for Triple A and does not have the foundation to support remodeling into an acceptable big league stadium. There was an article in the Bee awhile back explaining just that.

West Sac can't afford to build another stadium and do you really think Sacramento City/County will when they couldn't even build a Triple A stadium here. I think we should be happy we managed to get the River Cats here.
