Revisited: Peja for Artest being discussed??????

#31
Hey! Remember that one time that Petrie made a move AFTER it had been leaked or discussed?

Oh yeah. That has NEVER, EVER happened.

I fail to understand why people, as soon as they hear something rumored, do not IMMEDIATELY discount it as never happening. That would be the more solid course of action.

Just a reminder: We have a pretty extensive TRADE THREAD already in existence so if you want to post a lot of alternative ideas, PLEASE post them there.

Thanks...

obvoisly there is something going on.....but I still think, with artest, wells and SAR, that kings need new coach with new style...

btw larry bird is not happy with currnt roster so this trade might be possible

thats inaccurate...hes never said that...

though i know what ur referring to....

in fact it seems hes a bit befuddled, as alot of us are...but when u think about it....this teams projected starting lineup from the beginning of last season has still never even played together...

theres definitely some bumps taking place...

hes stated that he does like this team and the talent...

just that its not meshing at this very moment...

he said that hes not seeking any trades but he does listen when people call...

he also said if a deal came along that he likes he will pull the trigger...

though im not sure not what gm wouldnt say these things...

Not necessarily. Members of this board (myself included :p) were prediciting the Brad Miller trade earler in the summer of 2003. When the deal appeared to be actually going down, reports showed up on ESPN that there were discussions a few days before the trade was actually consumated.

Oh gawd no!

The Pacers have had plenty of problems to start the season, but not on of them connects back to Artest. (Other than his recent wrist injury)

Ron has been great, in fact many have speculated that there might be a genuine, real change in him (as in he is finally taking his medication).

This trade would be terrible.

Yeah. Tell you what, if you throw enough names out there, eventually one is going to be correct. And if memory serves correct, not all the names in the trade were accurate.

Point being, Geoff doesnt talk, and those who deal with him know that the quickest way to kill a deal is for them to talk. That's why no one ever knows what Geoff is gonna do before he does it.

The prevailing belief that I get from others on is topic is full suport of the idea of getting Artest. Does anyone know what the Pacer fans are saying about posibility of bring Peja to Indian? It seems to me that Pacer fans could not be as happy about getting Peja, as we would be about getting Artest.

u would be very hard pressed to find hardly any pacer fans even slightly excited about trading artest for peja...

hence, there arent many of us that think theres much of a chance for it...

larry bird loves ron artest....theyve bonded since the brawl...

and quite simply, they could probably do a lot of other moves that would make more sense than peja....

It would almost scare me if this happened. Even given the off-court troubles, how could the Pacers really be so down on Artest that they would trade him for Peja? It doesn't make sense to me. Right now their production is about the same on offense, only Artest is one of the top 3 or 4 defenders in the league. If it were to happen, I'd really have to wonder just how much of a disruption he is to a team. If this is actually true, and I have my doubts, it must be because Bird thinks that the Kings aren't getting the most out of Peja and he thinks the Pacers can utilize his talents.

That said, Artest is a Rick Adelman dream player -- one of those guys who thrive without a coach in their face and always being treated with respect. A guy who doesn't need motivation -- he usually gives a top effrt. He's a good shooter, a good passer, a good slasher.

I'd make the trade in a second, but something really isn't adding up.
Agreed. Would love to see this happen.. liking Peja also.

Sorry, but I don't like this. I don't mind losing Peja at all, but I don't care how good Artest is or how well he's behaved since the incident. He's a thug and an idiot. I still believe he shouldn't be allowed to play in this league. The Kings need toughness, but Artest is too much.

If the Kings want him, then they are truly desperate.

I understand all disappointment in Peja and the fact that people look at him as a one dimensional player, but I am also willing to bet that many GM's will look at the fact that how he plays depends on the teammates he plays with. If used in the right combination he can be of a lot of value.

Come on people, it's not like all he did for us is hide at the 3pt line and shoot threes. He has had his share of "success" here (and that is partially why he is the longest tenured player on the team - plus GP love for him). He has had a poor season and 20 games this year, but that doesn't mean that everything he's done in the past should be deemed irrelevant.

I bet that quite a few GM's would love to take a risk on him and see what he can do for them. Just my opinion.

I will be in shock if the Kings can get anymore than a rookie or a draft choice for Peja. Certainly IMO NOT Artest. He is a balloon that seems to be losing air.
A rookie or a draft choice??? Whatchu smokin dude???

Peja may not be a superstar or team captain, but he's still a solid 15 ppg at WORST. Many teams would be interested in having a deadeye 3-pt shooter on their team...it's just nobody wants to completely rely on him to win...like WE'RE doing.

I don't see us getting Artest for Peja, but I am very happy to hear that Peja's name is even involved in trade talks. I want him gone.

Well, you are getting close when you say the Kings are desperate... they are making their way there!

I think you're right...With Webb around, Peja got lots of good looks at the basket. He could be a good fit with Jermaine inside creating opportunities for open shots.

That's kinda what I've been expecting to see develop between Reef and Peja. So far, not much...

DO IT NOW.

Oh how great it would be do have a lock-down defender, that is STILL capable of scoring 20points a night.
And leads the league in steals, man what a badass Og/Sf combo Bonzi and Artest would be..

Artest is a good player...better than Peja from 2 years ago ? Hell no, but he's better than the Peja we've seen in the last two years, so I'd say I'd pull the trigger on this one even though I don't think we'd win any more games than we are now. It is a move towards the right direction it seems, as Peja cannot function in this system anymore.
