Reviewing recent draft picks (split)

He is a liability offensively and nothing special on the defensive end. I'd take Collison over Payton all day and dc was the backup on a thirty win team last year. I'd go a step further even and take Seth over Payton.

If you think he's still got a lot of improvement to come then great. That's subjective though and can be said of any young player, Stauskas included.
He's as much a liability as Rondo is offensively...

Comparing him to Collison doesn't make your point. Collison is a solid PG. I too think Collison is better than Payton right now in his career, but Collison's skill doesn't make Payton a bad player nor does citing a TEAM stat have anything to do with an individual's performance. It's the same ole argument against Cousins which is complete nonsense.

I guess my point is I'd rather have the pgs we currently have then add Payton.... And being that our pg position is a weakness right now that's not saying much.

He's a poor man's rondo at best... No room for that on this team.

Barring a leap next season under Frank Vogel, I think Payton is a solid backup at this stage. He provides great defense at the position, good rebounding and above-average passing capability. I didn't think our options at #8 were good in 2014, but I vastly preferred Payton* over Stauskas. I still think Payton would be a great addition to the team, providing defense and passing off the bench. Wouldn't help our spacing much, however.

*and Vonleh...wow was I wrong.

Tyreke,IT, and Cuz were the only good picks in like 8 years haha. I still wonder how good of a team we could have right now if we decided to roll with that core. Tyreke,IT,Casspi,WCS, Cousins sounds like a good squad.

It is also interesting to see that as bad as the Kings have been for so long, they have never gotten a pick higher than 4 (Reke). Most NBA drafts are 1-2 player drafts and rest of it is luck.
