Return of the Desert Island Draft?

Which drafts would you MOST like to participate in (choose up to 4)

  • Total voters
    9
  • Poll closed .
Snake format always seems a little more fair for the folks randomly seeded toward the bottom of the order so I'm in favor of that but also fine with a traditional draft as well.

Sounds good. I should hope to have the thread up sometime tomorrow and we'll start the clock on Monday!

@Mr. S£im Citrus do you have a moment to randomize this draft order?

Capt. Factorial
Sluggah
Löwenherz
Padrino
whitechocolate
Insomniacal Fan
hrdboild
SLAB
Tetsujin
Warhawk
Turgenev
Spike

Just curious if there are any special considerations or rules here. I would assume the following but am obviously not setting any rules - that's your job. :)
  • By a game we mean one particular title per selection.
  • Once that title is gone, no other versions of the title can be taken (original vs. updates, graphic upgrades, etc.).
  • No game "bundles" or "packs" with multiple titles in them.
  • Sequels to games are considered separate games from the original title.
  • I think there are certain games that have had fan or community modifications and have been released as "separate" games - would this be considered a valid selection separate from the "original"?
  • There are games that have had "expansion packs" released that can change the gameplay and add features, content, etc., vs. the original title. Would this be considered different than the original title or does selection of the title also get you all the subsequent expansion packs?

I think I had already dealt with some of these. Agreed on all the first four.

I don’t really game enough to know much about community mods or how common they are, my first inclination would be to disallow any game that is not in “sale” form. That also goes for expansion packs, if subsequent sales of the base game include them, then you should get them. If they are a separate purchase, they are a separate draft selection, and only the player who drafted the base game can draft them (can’t draft an expansion pack to backdoor into drafting the original).

Whatever you decide best is fine with me. I just wanted to broach the topic before we get three rounds in and someone selects "I Wet My Pants" and two selections later is the expansion pack (not sequel) "I Wet My Pants: Playground Embarrassment". 🤣

Some "expansions" are standalone, some require the base game to be previously purchased to play, and for some the purchase of the game/expansion can include purchase of the all the content together - depends on the game and version purchased. However, I think sometimes the game and expansion being sold together is sometimes referred to as a "pack" and sometimes not (it is just sold under the original name with additional content included), so I don't know if the first is in violation of the third bullet point (I had intended that question to address two or more separate unrelated games by the same publisher in a packaged set, which I have indeed purchased before) but I guess that could also apply to a game and an expansion sold together as well if so labeled.

Again, whatever you want to do is OK on my end, just checking for clarification! I know I got in a bit of a pickle in a previous draft for following the letter (but maybe not the "spirit") of the contest wording and I didn't want that to happen again (to me or anyone else). :)
