I don't see why not, seems fine to me.I riot if online dependent games are forbidden.
Along those same lines, re: platforms - do mobile games qualify? iOS/Android? While I don’t foresee myself leaning on this much in the draft, it’s unfortunately all I seem to find time for these days, and they’ve come a long way.
I'll consider that your sign up.I'm up for a video games edition of the draft! How do I sign up?
Yes. I'm assuming that video games is going to win (looks like I can't edit when the poll closes) and I'm drafting up some rules that seem to make sense. Just trying to get ahead of any potential issues.
Here's what I have right now:
- Non-snaking draft; non-participating third party (TBD, one of the mods if available) to randomize drafting order
- 12-hour time limit (?? 24 seems to make things drag, negotiable ??), if time runs out next player is immediately on the clock and the missed draft pick can be made up any time before player’s next pick regardless of who is on the clock at that time
- At end of draft, other players will rank opponents to determine seeds, then we will do elimination-style voting as usual (any KF.com member can vote regardless of participation in the draft - but can’t be part of the seeding rankings)
- Can draft from any gaming system platform that hooks to a TV/monitor, or is standalone, or arcade, or PC computer (??missing anything??)
- Must name platform with game when drafting
- No restriction on number of times you can choose same platform
- If the same game is released on multiple platforms, picking it on one blocks the others from being taken
- Games must be originally designed as a video game, cannot be simply implementations of real-world games (e.g. chess, solitaire, Risk...)
- Originals only (no reissues; expansion packs that require the original game must be taken with a separate pick after taking the base game, but if new-sale base-level commercial releases include updates/patches you obviously get those)
- Two games with the same name, but fundamentally different games as opposed to reissues) do not block each other (e.g. if ColecoVision released Mr. Bill’s Adventure in 1983 and then Xbox released a completely different Mr. Bill’s Adventure based on the same character in 2021, these are independently draftable)
Please provide any necessary feedback on these rule ideas, point out any important points or roadblocks that I've missed, etc. Thanks!
My library/knowledge of video games is actually very limited, especially compared to others on this board who would probably fare better in such a draft/concept. As such, I will bow out of this one.I'll consider that your sign up.
We'll probably start once NBA draft aftermath is over, and I've got a chance to set everything up (which means like, open the thread and put in placeholders at the top for the selections). Might need to recruit a bit to get to a good number.
Would appreciate a confirmation in this thread from all who want to participate.
Current list of participants (taken from responses to this thread and only making the slightest assumptions):
Capt. Factorial
Sluggah
Löwenherz
Padrino
whitechocolate
Insomniacal Fan
Anybody else who wants to play, give me a nudge! @SLAB ?? @QWERTYLICIOUS ??

If you're taking volunteers/participants, though, definitely sign me up for that (professional) wrestling one!My library/knowledge of video games is actually very limited, especially compared to others on this board who would probably fare better in such a draft/concept. Now that draft I definitely CAN'T run. If you asked me to name two professional wrestlers I would start with Hulk Hogan and then stammer off into the distance. If you're taking volunteers/participants, though, definitely sign me up for that (professional) wrestling one!
I guess I can think of enough console and computer games that I have enjoyed over the years to participate in this. My list is going to be heavily weighted toward a particular decade and I have really no hope of winning the vote afterward, but I'll join in anyway for something positive to talk about.
I was guessing 15, but if we keep picking up players...maybe I'll cut that down?I could be in for video games. How many picks is it?
That's 12 players if @pdxKingsFan confirms. A nice number.I'm in. Can't promise long or engaging write ups though.
Just FYI, we often have one or two alternates that follow the draft and can step in if someone has to bow out for any reason. Just keep tabs on it and if someone has to bail you can always just participate as a sub for a few rounds. My library/knowledge of video games is actually very limited, especially compared to others on this board who would probably fare better in such a draft/concept. These are all in good fun. I always come in around dead last in the music drafts, for instance. Apparently, Def Leppard just isn't appreciated by the masses around here. Heathens.![]()
I did vote but I think I'm gonna sit out. That's 12 players if @pdxKingsFan confirms. A nice number.

Not that I'm old and nerdy, but gaming lost its edge when the NES released. Get your favorite text based adventures while they're still there.Wish I paid more attention outside of game threads. Not really sure how nerdy or old anyone is…will be hard to strategize.
Didn't see a confirm from Spike, but I'll just take it!@Spike is in, giving us 12.
That’s good enough to get started, unless we wanted to try and drudge up 2-4 more people.
Also, I think 15 is a good amount of rounds. People usually start getting antsy around 12-13.
Didn't see a confirm from Spike, but I'll just take it!
12 players x 15 rounds sounds good to me.
I'll take input on the snaking/non-snaking aspect, since that seems most "controversial", and we can get started...on...the 30th? Unless people are really chomping at the bit...
I reached out to him directly because he posted in the thread. You didn’t miss anything.Didn't see a confirm from Spike, but I'll just take it!
