Retired a King?

Thinking about Bobby Jackson's injury(which could put him out the rest of the season), makes me think about the guys who actually "retired" as a King... NOT including trade and waive guys like Sam Cassell... I do not seem to remember many as the Kings trade away most of their main guys before they retire...

So let's see retired as a King:
Shareef Abdul-Rahim
Corliss Williamson
Lawrence Funderburke (I think)

Can you think of some more?

Funderburke played for Chicago before he left the NBA. Here are some other guys who played their last NBA game with the Sacramento Kings:

Ricky Berry
Mark Olberding
Randy Allen
Michael Jackson
Ben Gillery
Henry Turner
Harold Pressley
Leon Wood
Bill Wennington
Dennis Hopson
Alaa Abdelnaby
Kevin Gamble
Brent Price
Erik Daniels
Vitaly Popapenko

I think it's a little early to consider Douby retired. He's still a young player that some teams may be looking to take a chance on. I'd give him more time before saying he retired after his time with the Kings.

gosh whata list that is...

Don't put too much stock into the list. Gross list? you bet! But look around at the great players of this league and you will realize not many great players retire with the team they had their best years with... (MJ, Pippen, Karl Malone, Gary Payton, Mitch Richmond, Clyde Drexler..) and this is just off the top of my head.

Pippen actually returned to Chicago for a season and retired as a Bull...

Of players that actually mattered to the Kings fanbase:

not Fundy (he came back briefly a couple of years ago for..Chicago I think it was? And he asked for his release in his final year with the Kings anyway.)

but

Corliss Williamson
Lionel Simmons
and now maybe Bobby (although I think he will likely want to give it one more go, especially rather than go out on this season with another injury, and will have a pretty good argument that he should)

I have a question that has been bugging me for years..

Didn't we sign or trade for Frank Brickowski a long time ago? I ask this because I remember him being on the injured list with Lionel Simmons, and Grant mentioning that once we have those two back we will be even better (we were competing for the 8th seed at the time).

Did we trade Brick before he came back from injury? Is that why he never played a game for us but was on our roster for most of the year? Am I dreaming this all up? lol.

EDIT: NM just answered my own question..

lol.. OK so he was injured the whole year, and then left.. So he got 2+million to cheerlead.

I was thinking he retired a King never having played a game for us, but it looks like he had a couple more years of ball after his stint on the IR in Sac.

That would have been a funny one though. The Kings sign him and he retires a King never having played a game for us.

Frank actually signed with Seattle and Boston after being on our injured list for a year.

I think it's cool and all that we're retiring Vlade's jersey, and Chris's earlier...but we should have signed them both to 1 day contracts after they both left thier last teams so they both could OFFICIALLY retire as Kings, but that only happens in a perfect world, right? LOL
