What do you guys hope we do with that Houston pick, and what do you think Geoff will finally take the second round seriously since we more then likely have the first pick in the second.
I sure HOPE that Geoff will take this second rounder seriously, after all, he picked Gerald Wallace at #25 (with Tony Parker and Gilbert Arenas going in the next 6 picks), which isn't that far from pick #31.
Hopefully we get a top-2 pick, he can quickly decide on that one, then focus his energy on the Houston pick and the 2nd rounder. We can't afford to take those lightly.
Having 2 picks in the 24 to 31 range doesn't leave a lot of hope for getting an impact player. My wish is that GP finds a way to move up to get another top 10 pick.
I know this is a weak draft, but there are actually some guys I really like who could be there for our Houston pick and our 2nd rounder. I'd love to have Williams, Evans, or Flynn with our Houston pick and then someone like Casspi, Collison, or whoever depending on who we go with with the Hou pick.
Houston pick (in order): Holliday (if for some crazy reason he decides to stay in the draft and drops), Williams, Collison, Brackins, Budinger, Jordan, Patterson and Young.
2nd rounder (in order): Lestor Hudson, Tyler Hansbrough, Danny Green, Marcus Thornton, Omri Casspi, and Mills.
Well if we end up drafting Griffin or Thabeet with our first pick, then I would look point guard and defensive shooting guard with the next two picks.
Pt guards that could be there are:
Johnny Flynn ( Assuming he enters the draft )
Darren Collison ( He certainly would help the perimiter defense )
Patrick Mills ( Very tough and very quick )
A.J. Price
Jrue Holiday ( I'd be willing to roll the dice on him if he fell this far )
Ty Lawson ( I doubt he'll fall this far )
Shooting guards that could be there:
Tyreke Evans ( Very good defender at the college level )
Terrence Williams ( Another athletic defender with upside )
Dionte Christmas ( Erratic and inconsistant, but athletic and intriguing )
Chase Budinger ( I doubt he'll drop this far, but would be a steal if so )
Other players that I like that could be there:
Craig Brackins ( I doubt he'll slide this far, but I'd grab him in a heartbeat if he does)
Sam Young ( Undersized, but the guy is a winner and playes with heart )
Taj Gibson ( A very good defender at the college level with a good motor )
Jerome Jordan ( Just because I like the name Jerome, and the fact that he's seven foot tall with upside )
I hope Terence Williams is there for Houston's pick. He is very athletic with good defense and leadership. He also is a good passer. He needs to work on his shot, but if we have other shooters around him it wouldn't be a huge deal. Tyreke Evans seems like a point guard in a shooting guard's body, but he has a lot of talent and I would love to pick him up also. That is what the Kings need. Jrue Holiday is almost definitely going to stay another year to lock up the starting UCLA point guard job. Flynn is also probably going to stay another year.
