Research Paper! Please Help!

#1
Hey Everyone!

Well, summer is ALMOST here... few more weeks of school for me! For my Media Ethics class, I have to write an 8 page research paper on Ethics in Sports Media. When I chose this topic, I thought it would be a LITTLE bit easier than it has been...

Basically, I need some help formulating some issues to write about- so far I was going to put my main focus on sexism in sports media (i.e. woman not getting fair coverage), racism in sports media (i.e. minorities being stereotyped both positively and negatively <such as black athletes are better jumpers or white athletes are smarter players>) and reporters invading the personal lives of athletes- which things such as the Kobe Bryant rape trial or the Minnesota Vikings boat scandal could be evaluated on the appropriateness of the coverage these issues received. Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated- i mean i DO have to ramble on for 8 pages....

Finally, the hard part... I have been having trouble finding resources to site for my research. My teacher wants our papers both based on our opinions and facts/writings done about this subject. I was wondering if anyone could help me, I haven't found too many things are that helpful.

Thanks a bunch! These last couple weeks of school are BRUTAL! My brain is already trying to be on vacation, especially with the recent change in weather, but I am trying to hang in there!

Wow-that sounds like a very interesting, intriguing topic! If I were in school, I think I'd love to love to write a paper like that. Another topic you might want to consider in that genre are athletes taking performing-enhancing drugs. Lord knows there's plenty of material there, especially with the Balco scandal. Another one might be athletes having multiple children out of wedlock.

Well there are plenty of sources for all those stories on the net, but I encourage my students to look to journal articles on the subject. I know that may seem too much for a High school student but good academic work ought to impress your instructor. An EZ search engine that anyone can use is: http://googleacademic.com/ just search your key words and you ought to get several great articles.

A word of advice for you and any other students writing papers (espcially college students) look into down loading an APA or MLA templet, it will automatically format your paper for you, generate your works cited page saving you hours and giving you a VERY professional looking paper! Trust the guy that has written hundreds and graded tousands on this one.:D

Thank you everyone! I really appreciate it.

HndsmCelt- I am going to use that search engine- I had been using google, yahoo and askjeeves and I wasn't coming up with much helpful information. My school library didn't have much either.
