We just have to remember this isnt the final team for this season. The trade deadline is approaching fast and I expect some big changes that will definitely help this teams chemistry.
We already knew we werent going to contend this year, so losing was a given.
But we have enough talent to win some games and gain experience for next years playoff run. So we play the young guys, and hope for the best win or lose.
Ive been really hard on Hawes and JT.. and kinda feel bad. but i meen i can understand how frustrasting it must be going up against grown men who are physically stronger every game. (and not having one to practice against in practice).
They are still kids and trying to learn the fundementals to be good in the best league in the world. These guys are the same age as me. And right now I still feel like a kid and feel like the sky is the limit. So from now on im just going to sit back and watch our bigs make mistakes and just take it in stride as a learning process. At least they are making them now while we are in rebuild mode.
JT
With all of JTs clumsiness/foouls he still manages to be a solid 15 and 9 PF in his second year, which is ultra impressive to me. He just needs to get back to being that scrappy role playing PF that cleans up messes and hustles more then anyone else on the court. Thats the JT we all grew to love and im slowly seeing it slip away. JT is not really a go to player, I meen he can spot up for the jumper pretty effectively but I think us trying to isolate him is getting him into trouble. He dosent have the patience to succeed down low.yet. and he either commits a foul or turns it over. JT should not be a focal point for us on offense. JT should concentrate on helping our focal points. Martin,Evans, Beno, Hawes, Casspi. By cleaning up there messes or being in the right position for the dunk or jumper. Hes no duncan in the post and we go to him like he is.
Thompson needs to take a long look at really what kind of person he is and what kind of baller he is. and that is a scrappy hyper active garbage man.
His role can be an allstar garbage man, Im sure he'll figure this out.
Spence is a little different then JT. he has the Patience (at times) to be a post player. So we should look to him a little more down there. He just has to throw that ball down like tom chambers. Hawes is a pretty good dunker, Ive seen him throw down numerous tip slams some being very difficult one handers. So he has the skills and length to jam like a big down low hes just gotta concentrate on it more. Evans seems to be looking for him more rolling to the basket which is also a good sign to see. He also needs to focus on that vlade passing to cutting, Kmarts,Benos,Evans, and Casspis.
Hawes role is pretty clear and thigns will look better soon.
Alot of people are saying Martin dosent fit with evans, but i beg to differ.
These guys were both looking for other players and moving the ball around pretty well. Its not a bad thing to have most of your shots going to Evans and Kmart because they are two extremely effective scorers.(could be the highest scoring backcourt in the NBA) Both top 15 in the league.
Evans had 4 asts to Kmart alone yesterday, that was a great sign to see.
Its just they both have to learn to defer to each other in the game situations when one will be more effective then the other. Sometimes we are going to need Martins outside shooting/foul drawing more then Evans scoring at the basket and vice versa, both players need to realize when we need to go to our strengths. Kmart is still rusty and hasnt played with these new improved players so we need to give him time. to adjust.
Evans has been pretty great. What ive noticed most recently is he is becoming more of a PG. He is making great passes (although it dosent always show up on the stats). he had like 3 alley oops last game, over 5 drive and kicks to three point shooters and numerous drop offs at the basket to players under the rim that just couldnt finish.
This is prolly the best sign for the kings right now. Evans KNOWS his role is to get the team involved..and score when he has the chance and you can see he is trying his hardest. It must be extremely hard for him to adjust to this type of play since he is a scorer first, but he is succeding with his passes and in time, if he keeps playing like this we could have a PG that averages 7-8 asts. This was the biggest question this year , if evans could be a pg? and he is showing he can be.
Omri, Donte
They have been moved down the latter but they are the type of players that can do other things then scoring which is good for the rest of our team. They need to put their scoring aside for the time being and focus on the little things like defense, hustle, rebounding, passing.. which im sure coach is telling them. If they will concentrate on this then they could be the glue players for this team. They are young and will adjust to this situation, its all about refinding thier roles. they both have the skills to do it. Show us that energy.
Beno
His time is obviously gonna be cut by about 15 minutes a game.
But he had to know this was going to happen. When hes in their he needs to get the team involved, keep shooting efficient and keep providing that vet leadership he has done all year. Hes the most mature on this team and he needs to know thats his role. He definitly has a role on this team now and in the future.
Hilton just needs to make rekes/hawes/Jts life a living hell in practice and block the **** out of them untill they learn how to effectivly finish without getting blocked or thier shots altered. i think he was a good addition. he will know his role sooner rather then later.
Sergio- I dunno if he will even see the court anymore but when he do be sergio. he has shown great flashes for passing and we need that if the offense isnt clicking and hes brought in. Im sure he will find his role fast.
Brockmans role is pretty clear. be a monster and he knows that and has succedded.
this is prolly the longest post ive ever written on here, but I do believe its all about these Kings re-finding thier roles. They all fit together very well with each of their skillsets. I just hope coach he talking to each and every player about the roles i mentioned above.
january has been the toughest month schedual wise for us so in all honeslty how could we not expect this collapse to happen.
This team is ressilient and will refind thier roles and become one once again.
huge rant sorry. needed to let off some steam and thoughts.
