There are some good teams on this trip but we seem to bring it against the tougher competition. I also like matchups against MEM and OKC. No Gasol and no Westbrook is about the best advantage we could ask for against both of these teams. We dont contain dribble penetration...imagine what Westbrook would do to us. It makes me a bit sick to think about it.

It'll be fun, win or lose. I usually enjoy based almost solely on whether there is a win or loss but this team is getting very interesting. I hope Gay continues at this torrid pace. I hope Jimmer and Williams to continue to show they may be relevant. I will be interested in seeing if JT continues to play like someone jammed a poker up his, well you know where. Was this last game an aberration?

If we went 6-0 it would be hard not to start thinking that way. We'd be 19-22 on a 9 game winning streak.

I voted 3-3 because it just seems the most reasonable considering it's not home advantage any more and the tough teams we are facing. Saying this, I think we'll beat OKC without Westbrook.

Unfortunately Durant has not seemed very impressed over his career:

Gay v. Durant, career (15 games):
Durant 40.3min 28.5pts (.485 .246 .894) 7.7reb 3.2ast 0.9stl 1.5blk 3.5TO
RuGay 40.2min 20.7pts (.427 .277 .711) 6.7reb 2.1ast 1.4stl 0.9blk 2.1TO

Rudy Gay was not playing with Cousins in those games. It is a new era for Rudy. Cousins draws so much attention Rudy is seldom double teamed.

It would take several optimistic what ifs:

1) What if Malone's defense scheme clicked with the Fellas.
2) Cousins, Gay and IT would have to continue at their current pace.
3) Ben and MT start to hit their shots regularly.
4) Landry comes back and meshes well with the Bench Mob.
5) Jimmer continues his savvy play of the last two games.
6) D Will continues to thrill and that rebound and run move.

Heck let Cleveland/Chicago have that pick:)

Surprised that the average on the poll is above the 2-4 I got given all these teams have a better record. 3-3 would indicate serious improvement

Brick says:

1/14 @IND -- with 29-7 Indy coming off 3 days of rest. Umm...Maybe they'll be rusty?
1/15 @MIN -- back to back too. hope would be that Min is actually sub-.500 right now (18-19), and they choke the close ones
1/17 @MEM -- another scary sounding name, but Marc Gasol should still be out, and only 17-19 overall
1/19 @OKC -- 28-9, but wounded without Westbrook
1/21 @NOP -- 15-23 and spiraling with massive injury woes, but may have some of their guys back by then
1/22 @HOU -- another back to back against a 24-14 team, but we beat them there just a few weeks ago

I say:

Two back-to-backs at front and back end of road trip. But that should never be an excuse by good team (and never is) or easy excuse by a young legs NBA team. With couple of breaks in trip should get in full practice or two - sometimes no time for during tight road trips. That's good as long as camp out in OKC awhile instead of rushing to Bourbon Street for no sane reason just to be ahead of schedule:)

2 wins out of 6 probable, 3 would be gravy. 0 to 1 win would be miserable after down, sideways, up, three game home win streak. 4 wins would get big Wow. 5-6 wins and print them playoff tix! Did you say playoffs?!

2-4 ... intrigued by the MEM matchup. Does Gay beast against his former team or will he look for his own shot for most of the night?

I'm thinking we can win one of the tough matchups, as teams might sleep on us. Maybe OKC. HOU almost certain to be a loss in my mind - end of trip, second of back to back. Hope Parsons is still sitting by then.

Go Kings!

I'd say 3-3. I think we play well against OKC, and without Westbrook have a chance to steal one there. Or perhaps a win at MIN even with the back to back? . 2 wins against NO, MEM, and Houston should not be too pie in the sky thinking.

At this point, that would be what it would take to start any serious talk of playoffs.

We could just as easily head the other direction on this trip. I'm just hoping team effort and chemistry remains. Wins or losses aren't that important.

so, Marc Gasol is coming back tonight. good for one of my fantasy teams, less good for the Kings' chances in Memphis.

You get better by playing the best, good news he's back for us and the L, I hate wins when the oppositons best player is out.

don't disagree with that at all. Gasol is one of the few guys left that has, quite consistently, bothered Cuz considerably. climbing that mountain is an important step in boogie's development.

Marc Gasol came back tonight which will be bundles of problems for the Kings team when going up against a solid post defender.

Attacking the post was not the problem tonight against the best interior defender in the league. I don't think Demarcus will have too many issues with Marc Gasol, especially with the man coming off on an injury as he is.

Gasol caused him some problem sin his first couple of years.

That was then, this is now. Now we have a center averaging 27pts 13rebs for the MONTH. And Marc Gasol coming back off injury.

Last season the Grizzlies doubled and tripled team the living crap out of Cousins, Cuz dropped 19+in 3 of the 4 games last season while being swarmed.

Original thought was 2-4 but after Pacer game, maybe 1-5 unless they start that roller coaster of playing. One win guess would have been Memphis before Gasol came back. Wolves should be win and they have beaten Rockets twice already so why not 3 times?

My prediction as we're already 1-1, is 3-3.

1/17 @MEM -- Win
1/19 @OKC -- Good game, but Loss
1/21 @NOP -- Win
1/22 @HOU -- Doubt we are going to beat them yet again, against the odds a little.

I'd say our best chance of going 3-3 would be to beat OKC and NO, Memphis has Gasol back and they play tough defense(which seems to bother us). OKC is a one man team right now, thats one heck of a one man to have, but still we should have a chance. Houston I would guess is chomping at the bit to get revenge on us, but who knows.
