Oh please. You're not seriously comparing Webber and Artest, are you?

Artest's passion for the game has included unprovoked attacks on TV monitors. Or was that the monitor's fault? Did it say something bad to Artest?

He's a nut case. His violence is escalating. Saying his passion sometimes drives him out of control is like trying to make excuses for a man who beats his wife and then says she drove him to it.

Go ahead and blame Ben Wallace and the Pistons fans, but they didn't yank Artest off the table and drag him into the stands. He did that all on his own.

I am not comparing Webber and Artest behaviour wise. I am saying I don't want to see people trashing Artest the same as I don't want people trashing at Webb.

I like his game. You want to put a tag on him overshadowing any achievement he made, go ahead.

I didn't put the tag on him. He put it on himself with his own actions. He has been placed on antidepressants, he has taken anger management classes, etc. It's obvious to anyone he still has problems.

His achievements are overshadowed by his violent actions. It's not me saying that. It's fact. If you choose not to accept it, that is your decision. It won't change regardless of whether or not I put a tag on him.

The Real Reason Our King's Lost ...

The reason we lost this game is because we scored less points than Seattle.

No, Seattle scored more points then our King's ...

King's played a great game .... but, when it came down to it .... FINAL 2-3 MINUTES - AGAIN .... they folded .... sad ain't it.

To play so hard for 3 3/4 quarters, even without Miller ... and then just give it all away down the stretch.

This ain't over yet .... next 9 out of 10 games are on the road.

Face it ... our King's are a # 5-6 seed (PERIOD).

I still believe they can make it out of the 1st round. But, without a committment to DEFENSE that's as far as they go.

We will never see a STRONG REBOUNDING team in the King's (PERIOD).

But, that's remotely ACCEPTABLE. They've won games despite being terribly out-rebounded. As long as their shots are dropping, they're okay here.

Mistakes down the stretch and poor defense .... it's our trademark.

Oh, we're better than a 5th or 6th seed. I think people are again forgetting what has laid us low one more time -- injuries, as usual (and now a suspension to boot). What a devastating time for it to happen too. Combined with no practice time + integrating new players into the rotation its impossible for us to be tight right now -- everybody's fighting hard, but the effort is scattered, the chemistry yet to emerge. never know who's going to be ready to go any night, and half of the players who are are either beat up, still learning the plays etc. We'll be better than this eventually. And yet we've still been right there, right in the mix against the best in the league.

The question isn't whether we'll be a high seed -- that's pretty much a given. Its whether we can be more than just that. Can we SERIOUSLY contend for a title as currently constructed. That's where the room for doubt lies. This is the best San Antonio team to date I think. They've discovered that if you actually SCORE some points as WELL as play defense it makes winning a lot easier. As the other remaining established elite team this millenium, we are their logical competition. But how serious the competition is is still to be seen.

This isn't about "the sky falling" or "the wheels falling off" because of a mini-slump brought about quite obviously by a devastating pile of injuries and acquisitions happening all at once. (Wonder how many different lineups and substitution patterns we've used this month? Probably a whole season's worth.). This is about May, when we WILL be playing and will sooner or later have to prove we aren't just good, we are championship material. Can this team, as constructed, get the big board and make the big stop? Or is it heartbreak one more time?

Getting outrebounded on top of so many more free throws for the opposing team is going to equal an almost definte loss. Rebounding has never been our thing but as long as we out free throw the other team we usually win. Ah. We get over this stretch...we all talked that Feb would be tough and we should be alright. March and April aren't nearly as bad, every team other than the Spurs have gone through these kind of stretches.

No practice, injuries and a suspension have added up. Thank god we have the all-star break coming up to hopefully get everything in order. F' the all-star game. Get healthy guys. I still don't think I'm gonna watch the game tonight, my stomach I believe can't take it. ;/.

I was refering as you said, on the offensive side.

On "D" ... the King's have shown they can do it .... I believe their mistakes on the offensive side (during crunch time) ... contributes to THEIR LACK OF D. Normally, good offense starts with good defense ... but, in the King's case, they get rattled, force the ball in the paint, fancy passes, quick shots and then it's all over .... offense falls apart, defense falls apart .... they quit doing what they did THE WHOLE GAME to put themselves in a position to WIN.

We lost because the Sonics scored more points. It happens all the time. We have to do something about it!!!

Some people sure have fun bringing up all Webber's past discretions which, for the record, are not rooted in anger and rage as Artest's are. He's a loose cannon. It would be a huge liability for a team to even consider hiring him. The insurance against him doing something to a fan, an official, a player on an opposing team, etc. would be cost prohibitive in and of itself.

VF21, Normally I would agree with you. But in this case, I think this may be something that the Kings should at the very least explore in the off season if the Kings get bounced for the same old stuff we have been talking about for the last five years:

PEREMETER DEFENSE
TOUGHNESS

Sometimes in sports the high risk/high reward philosophy is not bad to follow. Example, when the Kings traded for Webb in '98, that was a high risk deal that paid tremendous dividends. When Chicago signed Dennis Rodman, high risk/high reward. There are other deals in sports where GM's have rolled the dice and won big time. If this team does not progress past the 2nd round of the post season, all bets are off and all jobs are up for grabs outside of Chris Webber.

I saw the Sonics in the last 2 minutes step it up with tons of pressure which resulted in a 4 pt swing, enough to win the game. That is what a team and coaching is all about. My hats off to the Sonics. Wishing we had the same mentality.

Don't forget the coaches role in this. They have been rebounding like this for years and with different players I might add. It just doesn't seem to be a big priority with RA. If Pop were coach he would bench some of our players for their poor effort on the boards, or at the very least get in their grill. Of course the players are the ones who are mostly responsible, but IMHO the coach also has a share of the blame when this same weakness continues year after year. Most of the time only a couple of players are even going after the board, if it's not the coaches responsibility to correct this, then who?

as much as i love adelman - i do think he should do more than preach rebounding...maybe some punitive ation (such as benching for a few minutes) would inspire the kings more

well its not like the kings haven;t performed well in clutch situations this season...i think the majority of their victories have been decided in crunch time...so i wudn;t exactly put adelman at fault there
