Hall of Famer
Getting ready for another trip out of town. Hope - I will be back to see us extend the winning streak to 3 games
----------------------------------------------------------------------
On November 12th 2000 Kings beat up on Dallas. Kings won 109 - 84 to improve to 6-2 at that point of the season. It was a typicall Kings game. You Know, the usual - 53% shooting, 32 assists on 39 FGs etc. The 1-2 punch of CW and Pedja was yet again way too much for "Allas" Both combined for 51 pt and shot 19-30 from the field. Don't think - Kings ever lost whaen something like this happened.
Pedja lead the Kings in scoring with 28/4/4, Webber who continued to own Mavs added 23/13/2, DC hads 13/1/3/3, JWill 12/7a and Vlade had his typical game 3/10/7 Bench was solid especially Funderburke who had 14pts and Bobby who scored 9pts.

They couldn't guard our big guys Chris and Vlade (cente Vlade Divac),Stojakovic said. "Every time they doubled them, they would dish the ball and I'd knock down the open shot."
(
vintage Kings offense)

Webber collected 23 points and 13 rebounds. He made 9-of-12 shots and was virtually unstoppable until spraining his left ankle late in the third quarter. He will be evaluated further on Monday. Webber did not return but the Kings did not need him. They led 82-59 entering the final period and the Mavericks got no closerthan 17 points thereafter.

(vintage Kings luck)
----------------------------------------------------------------
Kings are 3-2 after 5 gameas on our first and hopefully one of many winning streaks. Standings don't matter right now but we are close to Lakers who finally started doing what we here like them to do all the time - lose. We are in between Hornets who are the only unbeaten team in the NBA but that might change tonight and the Mavs, Nuggets and Suns who are losing for whatever reasons - not that we care. Even Knicks and Hawks won more games than them. (Yes, I am aware that it will change but I am enjoying the moment).
Kings have Raptors, Grizzlies at ARCO1 and Warriors at ARCO2 next and it is a great opportunity to extend the streak and improve the overall record before the Spurs come in town. Let's hope for more "ugly" games with the happy ending.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
WANTED - Kings offense - preferably alive.
Man - how ugly is the way that we have been playing offense these days. Let's put aside for a moment that Brad is hurt and Bibby is hurt and that we have new coach and some new players.
What the hell did we do during the training camp ? What are we playing ? Who is the first option ? What schemes do we have ? What is a plan A, B , C ? Way too much one on one, way too static. Only ball movement we had was between Ron's left and right hand before he missed yet another ill advised shot. Only player who moved was Kevin and it paid off big time. My eyes were hurting so bad in the first half that I had to switch the channel and watch Lakers lose for a moment. Basically - it was perfect offense for Corliss Wiliamson - ugly with no system and no rythm. It has to get better because not every team will suck as bad as Pistons did last night.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Finally, in the second half we had a dominating center performance from Corliss "Wilt" Williamson who used his size and skills:eek: to torture Pistons defense. Corliss was unstopable and even hit his FTs. I think that Pistons have a version of TDM award that is called Corliss Williamson award. I hope that Corliss won't go back into his pre-retirement hibernation because we could use some more of this and more often.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kevin Martin - continues to play on a high level. It is safe to say that we would be 0-5 without him. Eventhough, he still has periods in games where he is too passive/not involved - when he is on - he is on. Let's see how long will it take before the first discussions about who should be the first option on offense. Also let's see how he will respond when he is the key target off the opponents defenses. We should try not to go crazy and mention all star games etc not because Martin isn't capable or doesn't deserve it but more because Kings all star appearances lead to injuries and we can't afford another one. Just keep it low key and let Kevin introduce himself to defenses and the opponent's fans. Nothing wrong if they don't know what hit them. Ask Pistons how it feels.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ron Artest is like a cow who gives You 15 gallons of milk a day (on defense) but then kicks the bucket full with milk with it's leg and spills it all (on offense) Not only that Ron has yet to meat a shot he didn't like but his decision making could make him blend in in Washington DC easily. It is clear that no one can explain to Ron that he isn't Kobe or Lebron. Also the guy does so much for the team that You just have to live and lose Your nerves with some of the stuff that he does. There just has to be way to bypass this in certain moments in the game without Ron realizing it. It would be better for the team.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Finally, Kings defense has been very good this season and especially the rebounding part. That is the signature of the new coach. You can see Muss playing defense on the sidelines. He is still young and can do it. RA would have collapsed trying to do the same:p. We need to keep it up but we also need to finde more balance between both ends of the floor. We can argue about players performances and the quality of BB that Kings are playing at the moment. We have to acknowledge that every player on the floor is trying hard to defend as well as he can. Energy and hustle has been superb.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
We finally beat Pistons after we lost 4 or 5 straight to them. They aren't as good as they were last couple years. They also played horrible not that we care. I hope that they are upset and embarased of the way they played and that they are eager to make it up - let's say on Friday night.
After the incredibly ugly first half Kings stopped sucking as bad as the Pistons and it was enough. We dominated boards. Pistons had many turnovers. Not sure how many were cause by us but it is irrelevent. A good win despite all the problems that we still have. And almost 100 pts. So close and yet so far away;)
----------------------------------------------------------------------
AWARD TIME
TDM goes to Maxiel eventhough it was a close race between him, Delfino and Murray. Usually, when 3 players play well enough to win TDM - Kings lose but did not happen here which leads us to
LW-VC award that went to - Sheed followed closely by Prince. Sheed had 15 rebounds but even if he had 30 - would not have mattered since KT had 15 also.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Raptors are next and let's face it - we own Raptors at ARCO. Don't think we lost at arco since 1998. Not sure about before. They can be dangerous if we let them hang around. I think - they are way too youg to be able to actually win this one provided out effort is on the same level.

Mike - we will just have to live with the way he plays with one hand. Still pretty good though. As for defense - he only has to face Billups one more time this year.
Ron - I am starting to believe that Ron can actually play worse on offense. Defense - top.
Kevin - let's keep this quiet
SAR - can do more
KT - I hope that other teams are watching.
Salmons - some consistancy please
Corliss - maybe not every night but more ofthen than this.
Price - like the effort - needs more control
Mo Taylor - best game as a King
Rest - who cares
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Musselman - great defensive effort. Worked hard on the side line. Tried to take a charge but refs didn't fall for it. Great rotation (no Taylor, no Hart) and puld Corliss out of his hat. Hope someone gave him a ride.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Looking at Raptors roster - feels like a TDM candidate candy store. Way too many unknown players. Bargnani has not have a good game yet. I am more worried about Garbahosa because if he has a good game - he can really hurt us. TDM might go to Fred Jones. Hope that not too many have a great game. Kings win anyways.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Go Pistons on Friday and Grizzlies on Sunday !!!

This time last season we were 1-4 heading into the 6th game. So 3-2 is a nice improvment. we are averaging 4 more reb per game over last year and 4 more stls per game about the same in blocks so the hustle is there. WOW we averaged 14 TO's last season and we are at 18 now with LOADS of room for improvment there. Our shooting % is down from last year by quite a bit our ppg is down 7 points but our points against we are only giving up 90 points per game though. we are out rebounding our OPP by almost 5 out stealing them by almost 5 but, we are getting out blocked by 2 pg.

once the offense starts to gel and flow without fans grimacing, all will be good. Our defense though is much improved over last year. We have have been scoring more last year, but i will take 3-2 over 1-4 anyday. Defense does win games i guess.

I have a feeling Artest is going to post up the crap out of the raptors and we will destroy them.

Maybe we should include probable starting lineups in game threads?

feel free to do that.
Personally, I am not going to post Kings lineup because that might jinx a player to an injury. As for the opponent lineup - I could care less. VF21 gives the lineups before every game if You unable to watch it. If You can watch the game - You will find out lineups soon enough

Our rebounding has only brought us up to a league standard -- for good teams. Our extra steals are only making up for our extra turnovers. The hustle however is intangible. It keeps the team morale high when chemistry in the new system is low.

You forgot one of the most important factors. Free throws. I don't know what the numbers are this year relative to last but I know one thing, free throws are the reason why we are 3-2 instead of 1-4.
And not the free throw % but the number of points off free throws.

Getting to the line, getting easy points, controlling the flow of a game albeit in a sloppy fashon.

I'm italian.
Bargnani play for the Raptors.
So....
**** you Andrea, Ron humiliates them...

this is funny. i am yet to meet an italian who actually roots for the kid. maybe, clubs come before "national pride" (most of the time: irrationality at its best) over there (not that there is anything wrong with it).

Bosh

Expect Bosh to kill us inside. This will be the second team we have played with a real low-post offense (Minn couldn't feed KG, Wallace off=0). Bogut killed us and Bosh is alot better. Our journeymen forwards will watch a lot of dunks in my opinion

Every team in the league is averaging over 10 TO's and most are around 15 to 18 which we are at 17. Now we are 1 of only 3 teams averaging over 10 stls per game. So I don't think that is a wash. As far as rebounds go you say we up to league standards??? We are 6th in the league in reb per game only 3 below #1 that is above the league average. Come on Bawla don't downplay our accomplishments.

Great intro to the game Piks.... Home game = HD which is nice.

Although the raps have had a bad go at Arco this is not your mothers Raptors. Bosh is a stud and they are pretty decent. I expect this to be a pretty tough game. The good thing is they are on the road and traveling, they play ATL tonight and then fly here for Sundays game.

Dude -- Your original statement was talking about our stats relative to last year, when we were way below the standard. This year we are about even with the teams we've played. The game @MIN and vs.DET we got a ton of offensive boards so the number gets skewed a bit. Those o-boards were from our energy and hustle, which I am loving BTW, but lots of offensive boards mean lots of missed shots. So that number will go down as our offense develops.

Anyway, I'm not trying to downplay our accomplishments. I just want to see more than 5 games before I start partying on the bandwagon.

And rest assured, I am on-board. ;)

I root for the Kings when they play against Rockets and Yao too. :p

should be fun... im going to miss the 1st qtr.. but i'll see the rest.... cant wait to watch the game... league pass kicks ***...

hell yea it kicks ***!
i live in L.A and im living it up right now

i was torchered with laker games being the only basketball entertainment for me....clipper games are rarely on local channels

Raps don't play much defense and are a pretty young team. But an improved, above-average Raps team overall.

Wouldn't be surprised if Bosh has a good night - but also wouldn't be surprised if he has an "okay" game.

Be nice to see Ron control Mo Pete, and Garcia to get some minutes.

Kings gon win.

I think this game tonight is going to be another low-scoring game, due to the Kings new found defense mentality. I am also hoping that Corliss is gonna have another big game.
