Random Thoughts following 2 back 2 back blowouts

I'am presently armed with one, and getting ready to head for the beach. Sun is finally shinning. All is well in paradise!

Now I'm armed and ready - I want a cerveza. And a beach. There's no beach here in the Rockies.

Why do I feel the need to post this?

Maybe I feel partly responsible.
(BTW, I'm still mad about not having a beach and a cerveza.)

i will say first off, i did not see the game today. But it would make sense to me that with Reke out, the line up was more balanced and people actually played their natural positions. I can see the starting 5 and it looks like everyone started in their natural position, ie no small ball. It sounds like the ball movement was better which doesnt surprise me at all, but maybe the fact that our guys are gonna be able to play their ROLES better when they play their natural positions and actually know what their roles are! W/ all this small ball bs, everyones playing out of position and i think it may be more difficult to play as a team when the fellas dont know what their roles actually are.

Don't misinterpret my statement here, i am not blaming wins or losses on reke, but he's a 2 guard without a shot, which kinda leaves him without a perfect position to a certain extent. It just might be less confusing for the rest of the team to have a balanced, logical lineup out there without trying to incorporate a very talented, yet position-less player.

Does that make sense or am i just rambling?

I agree with this and have for a while now. I don't know if you want my seal of approval here though lol. On this subject I am somewhat a bad guy.

Anyhow, I am not going to base anything on two games, but I will say that the offense has a good flow with him off the floor..

Someone said this above.. That sending MT to the bench wouldn't be a demotion.. Would you do the same to Reke? Send him to the bench but give him about the same amount of minutes that he has now?

Reason I ask is because what if Reke comes into the game when the energy is up and the team is passing the ball all over the place? Could it be contagious? Could Reke come in and continue the passing efforts, or would the ball stop moving once he came in? I think it would be interesting to find out. As it stands now the ball doesn't move very well with Reke in there.. We get behind and cannot dig ourselves out because of the lack of energy. Well if Reke comes off the bench we get that energy level high before he comes in and maybe Reke feeds off of it. Who knows..

Recall the most recent Pistons game and tell me that Tyreke wasn't one of the few who started with energy. He has not been the ball stopper people keep making him out to be in the last month or so, nor is he some lazy guy who always comes out flat.

Cool.

Just for the record:

I backed my assertions up with statistical evidence

You backed up yours with baseless opinions

No, you backed up your assertions with your interpretation of specific statistics chosen to bolster your point. But if it helps you sleep at night to think you won, here you go...

I have the beach, and the cervesa's. Your more than welcome. Cruzdude was here a couple of days ago.

Where did I say I "won" an internet argument? I'd love to hear your reasoning, but i'l let it go since you're the Boss around here. I do actually like posting on this forum since it's hard to find a strong dedicated Kings forum. I however, do not agree with the elitist attitude of some posters around here feel they have against people with opposing opinions against the norm. At the end of the day, we all want the same thing: For the Kings to be a winning team again!

Cheers!

Is that Broderick or Sun Tzu?

The exact quote was from War Games (Joshua the computer actually and not Broderick):

[after playing out all possible outcomes for Global Thermonuclear War]
Joshua: Greetings, Professor Falken.
Stephen Falken: Hello, Joshua.
Joshua: A strange game. The only winning move is not to play. How about a nice game of chess?

This, however, is from Sun Tzu:

VI.WEAK POINTS AND STRONG

9. O divine art of subtlety and secrecy! Through you we learn to be invisible, through you inaudible; and hence we can hold the enemy's fate in our hands.

Just for you...

It was left over from a recent image search. :p

VF -- That you incorporated not one but TWO gorgeous blue ribbons with such deft application in the same thread has earned you a lifetime of my respect. That makes two of us (that I know of) brought to tears by this thread.

Gotta say... this has been a hell of a thread. I'd like to congratulate everybody involved. Nice work people. This is how it's done.

From other posts, it sounds like Tyreke is somewhat unhappy with his role as a 3, that he doesn't have the ball as much in his hands. I just don't see him coming off the bench. Too tough on the ego. Also, I think the "equal opportunity" system that Smart has is meant in part to appease Tyreke, as well as others. That's why we do see him in the role of pg sometimes. He's trying to make him as happy as possible in a system that isn't centered around Tyreke. So I doubt very much that he would go out of his way to pee him off by not starting him. I do think the "role" issue has merit, though. One way or another, the roles will get defined.

Random thoughts after two wins and Monday night's Warrior game where Chris Mullin's jersey was retired. Great to hear. Past due but mainly because he served as GM and we all know that nobody loves a GM. Chris was a great one, fun to watch even as a Kings fan. I didn't see much of Run TMC but I saw lots of Richmond and Hardaway and Mullin. Great times.

That's why in the other thread I wanted to keep things the way they were. I wouldn't want to be the guy to tell Thornton that he's coming off the bench after averaging 20+ppg since he's started at PG with IT at PG. I don't think any of the starters deserve to be relegated to the bench, but I think the ball needs to move better when they are all out there at the same time.

Run that by me again?

I'm guessing the bulk of the basketball watching for pshn80 started sometime after 1991.

well, i know he was watching as far back as Clifford Ray, and I have always interpreted his username as being age related so...maybe just not in Warriros home area at the time?

Nope. True because from '85-86 to '91 is a lot shorter period than '91 until now. You can do the math. My first NBA game seen live by me was the first week of the Kings' first season. A season ticket holder ever since. Mullins was fun to watch play. I liked him and thought it was great that the Warriors honored him. Too bad about the owner boos. Bad taste.

Right on all counts. I lived in Sacramento always. In '74-'75 and before I was a radio fan to the Warriors. I had the good fortune to follow their surprise season from start to finish. One of the most satisfying fan years of my life.
