Race to the Bottom thread

Lately, we're doing a pee-poor job in this race. Make some trades, Perry, before you screw up the season and banish us once again to the Land of Limbo.
No, no, no, didn’t you read that you just have to chill because it’s all going to work out because the trade deadline is not far away. LOL. Incoming pick at 12 coming in this off-season.

I don't know if this weirdly hostile "pre-anger" is a symptom of the modern internet's psychological pull toward outrage, or if it's just a component of being a fan for many, but maybe we should wait until there's actually something to be mad about? I've been a skeptic of the Perry/Christie braintrust from the minute of their solidification. And I've certainly been frustrated by some of the moves already made. I'm hardly an optimist on this score, but Scott Perry still deserves until the trade deadline to set the franchise on a course for a rebuild, and there's still a lot of games left to play.

It's going to work great if Perry does what he says he's going to do - trade the oldsters for youth (and picks). Then I think we're insured of having plenty of ping pong balls at season's end. But it's going to work out terribly bad if he doesn't. Given that we have so little history with Perry, I am getting nervous about whether he is going to do what he says he's going to do. ( Vivek also figures into the equation.) Every day that passes before the trade deadline I'm getting more nervous. I'll be a nervous wreck by the trade deadline if he doesn't do some trades by then.😀

They didn’t sign 35 year olds to do it so ya better strategy nobody would care if we were winning 4 of 5 cause Carter is showing out

To be fair, Nique/Max/Cardwell have been crucial in all of these wins. Especially Nique and Cardwell on D. Kings don't have this 4-game win streak without them+Precious, which does matter imo

I agree on the Carter situation. Been dumb all year. Like I said, if Perry clears the runway and lets him get on the floor for the 2nd half, that can go a long way towards the rebuild. This 4-game win streak shouldn't change the plan to firesale. Hopefully, it boosts these guys as we head into trading season and we can get off most of them.

And even still 12-30 with a vet heavy approach is VERY BAD. I don't think we've all of a sudden turned a corner and going to rifle off 20 more wins.

We'll see and learn a lot about how this power structure is going to operate post-deadline. Will tell us a lot if we're on the right path or just the same old same old

With the way westbrick is playing I doubt Vivek is green lightning a trade with him and not a single soul is trading for Lavine. If we can’t get rid of monk that means Carter is in the same situation after the deadline a complete and utter waste of time and pick while playing ourselves out of the top three odds smh

Because Ainge understands odds.

True bitchass silver already has there lottery balls ready with the AJ and ownership connection

Pacers are an absolute embarrassment. Hali ain't that much of a difference maker, he's gonna end up coming back to a squad that isn't even trying to compete out there most nights. You know how hard it is to be out of the play-in for the Eastern conference?

Very much so! I’d like more! And for Westbrook and DDR and Lavine to get jettisoned into the sun. And also Sabonis if the return is nice, but don’t sell low on him just to do a thing.

The double-edged sword is kinda real though.

I think we probably win if we just straight up don't go back to Westbrook/LaVine/DDR, so they're leading the tank command at the moment.

We really haven't turned a corner. Teams just aren't hitting 3's right now vs us with POR at 25%. So that's 19, 22, 23, 32, 25 % 3pt against us over these last 5. Once that normalizes, we'll see pretty similar results to earlier in the year.

I would prefer to credit the difference to improved defense on three-point shooters.

We're doing a better job of chasing shooters off the three point line and they're rushing shots when they eventually get open. It's a cumulative thing.

Eh, don't buy it. I'd wager if we extrapolated the last 5 games to a full season opponent 3pt FG%, it'd be pretty close to the best defensive mark of all time. I do agree we are seeing better defensive pressure, but not to the extent we're seeing in the results

3pt shooting variance is very real and we're seeing good luck right now.

Kings are definitely not that good but it is a case of the opponents not expecting resistance and getting flustered when they see it.

or don't chill and just be anxious and spiteful all season, then when trades do or don't happen, continue to be the same way because it wasn't good enough or what you wanted. There's no winning with a fan like you. Trading vets for players you want to make us better? Careful, might win some games! Don't trade and continue to be one of the worst teams in the league? Careful, might win some games! Pick a lane man

These are the issues with being a team perpetually stuck in the middle of everything they do no matter what it is, it's hard for fans to pick a direction by the day, haha. The Kings are the definition of "mid". Wins are what they are. It's HOW they've winning that's the thing that keeps teams like the Kings mediocre for the long haul. Plopping out players that literally won't be here if things go right let alone in the league potentially in the next few seasons. The best you can come up with is that some of the players leftover will "learn by watching", lol. Sorry, we've seen this same thing play out twice before in the last 15 years, nope, doesn't work that way.
