RA and the Kings this preseason.

Don't fret about the rebounds.

You'll notice that while Reef may not clean every board, he is very fundamental and gets a body on someone. He lets a teammate clean up ... which, in truth, is the proper way to rebound.

You block your man out and if the board comes to you, get it ... but don't make yourself skinny by skying for every board.

Yeah, and also, SAR isn't gonna start grabbing 3-4 boards per game, when his career average is 8. It's because of pre-season team stuff.

I disagree, wholeheartedly.

First, this style of play matches ONE player. Peja. He doesn't care. He'll jack it from anywhere at anytime. He's the 'king' of stupid shots. Luckily for him ... he's good.

Miller is a spot up shooter. He's not a fast break guy nor a dish it to me on the run so I can fire a three kind of guy. He's better in the slower, more organized game. All his points this preseason have come from an open pass to him in the slowed-down halfcourt set.

Bibby excels at setting up the halfcourt offense.

Next, I think Shareef is easily as good offensively as any of the players up there. He's also a half-court player.

Bonzi isn't as talented as the above, but he's a halfcourt player.

I'm not saying they need to change wholesale. But, they NEED to utilize the post. You just won't have longterm success from the outside in. You need to feed the post. Both Bonzi and Reef have shown that they can pass from that location. You need to utilize it.

I think they can all run, especially Bibby and Bonzi. Bonzi in the open court will be fun to watch. I don't think we disagree all that much. We have post players now and we should utilize them(from the post), but historically we haven't had a problem offensively and I don't think a few preseason games is going to spark big change, nor do I think the inefficiencies displayed will continue.

I'm a little confused about the offense being built for Peja. I think he fits it quite well, but it works equally well for Bibby and Miller. As much as they run things through the high post I would say that Miller is probably a fairly important part of the offense. As a stated several times already I would also like to see more stuff run from the post with either SAR or Bonzi. We can be extremely dangerous with those guys in the post and all the shooters we have.

I would agree with that. And last game one of the few highlights were some traditional post spacing sets for Reef and Bonzi resulting in some open looks for perimeter guys. And maybe some of that stuff can fit under the Princeton rubric, reviving some of the stuff we used to run with Vlade. Problem is that Vlade was principally inside to create spacing for the pass, not the shot. Wheras both Reef and Bonzi figure to be more traditional post scorers. Its going to take time, and yet more tinkering with the offense to mix those guys in in spots where we're not used to having guys.
