Quick Pivot? Eliminate Small-Ball

All-Star
Many of us can see that the Rondo/Collison backcourt is not very effective. However, Collison has always been good enough in his career to earn ample minutes (he has yet to log less than 26 mpg in a season). Having a guy like Rondo who should be getting around 36 mpg on your team, it means that Collison has to play many minutes at SG. And if Collison is getting minutes at SG, it means that McLemore/Belinelli are having to get some minutes at SF. And if McLemore/Belinelli are getting minutes at SF, it means that Gay/Casspi are having to log minutes at PF. It's a vicious cycle that really starts at PG. Trading Collison for another position of need should (in theory) relieve us of the small-ball lineups we have grown accustom to see night in and night out.

On top of the small-ball issues, we need to address our SG woes. We're really in need of a more consistent SG. McLemore can shoot and shows flashes, but an upgrade here would only help us moving forward.

Below are a couple proposed trades that help us in both of these areas. Although having Collison on our team is causing some complications, I don't think it would be wise to trade him until we have locked up Rondo. With that in mind, these trade proposals would't take place until the offseason.

Trade #1
Bulls Get:
Darren Collison
Bulls Give: Taj Gibson
Why for Bulls? The Bulls have a lot of money locked away at PG in Rose. However, he's very injury prone which means they need to have a solid backup PG if they want to be competitive. The Bulls would be hard pressed to find a better backup PG on a better deal. They lose Gibson , but they have two very promising, young PFs to move forward with next year (Mirotic & Portis).

PG - Rose/Collison
SG - Butler/Snell
SF - McDermott/Dunleavy
PF - Mirotic/Portis
C - Gasol

Pacers Get: Taj Gibson
Pacers Give: CJ Miles
Why for Pacers? Mahinmi & J. Hill will no longer be on the team by the time of this trade. The Pacers will be lacking some serious big man depth. Moving Miles for a solid, starting PF will help their big man rotation and give them a great compliment to put next to both George and Turner moving forward.

PG - Hill/Stuckey
SG - Ellis/Young
SF - George/Robinson
PF - Gibson/Christmas
C - Turner/Allen/Whittington

Kings Get: CJ Miles
Kings Give: Darren Collison
Why for Kings? For reasons stated above, but Miles would give us a solid SG to start next to Rondo while still keeping our floor spacing. It'll also free up the log jam at PG and help limit small-ball.

PG - Rondo/Curry
SG - Miles/Belinelli/McLemore/Anderson
SF - Gay/Casspi/Butler
PF - Cauley-Stein/Acy/Moreland/Dukan
C - Cousins/Koufos

Trade #2
Mavericks Get:
Ben McLemore
Mavericks Give: Devin Harris
Why for Mavericks? Mavericks have many PGs on their roster who should be regular rotational players. Their giving up one of the three PGs they have on contract next year to add depth at SG (behind Matthews).

PG - Williams/Barea
SG - Matthews/McLemore
SF - Parson/Anderson
PF - Nowitzki/Evans
C - ???

Kings Get: Devin Harris
Kings Give: Ben McLemore
Why for Kings? With the addition of Miles, the Kings can afford to give up one of their SGs to help with depth elsewhere. Harris is the type of PG that would be a solid backup for 12-15 MPG, but in the case that Rondo gets injured, he should be able to do an adequate job stepping in (with Curry helping out as well).

PG - Rondo/Harris/Curry
SG - Miles/Belinelli/Anderson
SF - Gay/Casspi/Butler
PF - Cauley-Stein/Acy/Moreland/Dukan
C - Cousins/Koufos

Overview
I don't think this team necessarily is much an upgrade when it comes to talent, but I do think we would see an increase in productivity due to our players being able to play more minutes in their natural positions along with a better contribution from SG in general.

PG - Rondo (36 min)/Harris (12 min)/Curry
SG - Miles (26 min)/Belinelli (22 min)/Anderson
SF - Gay (18 min)/Casspi (30 min)/Butler
PF - Cauley-Stein (24 min)/Gay (16 min)/Cousins (8 min)Acy/Moreland/Dukan
C - Cousins (28 min)/Koufos (20 min)

Cousins - 36 min
Rondo - 36 min
Gay - 34 min
Casspi - 30 min
Miles - 26 min
Cauley-Stein - 24 min
Belinelli - 22 min
Koufos - 20 min
Harris - 12 min

Why would the Bulls want Collison they have Rose and Brooks?I would love Cj Miles/Harris but.
