Question?

OK I fell stupid for asking this, but every time I go and buy rice I always end up getting sticky rice. Is there away to tell the difference between normal rice and sticky rice on package? I try and read the packages and I find nothing. Can someone help me because I'm getting sick and tired of buying the wrong bulk rice.

Try washing your rice before cooking it. I wash it in a mesh strainer under running water, sort of scrubbing it against the mesh. Some rice processors use a form of talc or other powder to keep the product flowing freely, so you'll want to wash it away. My faves are Hinode or Kohuho Rose. Hope that helps!

Medium grain is your more sticky type. Try buying long grain, and like the above mentioned, the more you clean it the less sticky it will be.

I personally like sticky rice and I do wash my rice.. but washing it makes it less sticky?

Try not washing it, the powdery substance tends to make it more thick or sticky. But the main thing is the type of rice you buy.

Oh, no, I get my rice tasing just fine (stickyness the way I like it) but I did not know that washing it made it less sticky. :)

Wow. I didn't even know I needed to know this, but I did. I washed my rice last night and it came out more fluffy than ever before.

:D
