Question for the old-time fans

I'm sorry for the errors, such as Florida State for Florida and Edwards for Wallace. There were a lot of memories flooding back last night as I wrote that. I looked up the dates but relied on my memory for the rest...

:o

I finally figured out that this too shall pass and the sun will come out tomorrow and a lot of other smarmy platitudes.

Thanks for putting up with the emotional ranting of a silly old lady. This one was tough...but, I will survive!

;)

NP VF, I still cherish the experience since '94.

I've never been to SAC in my life, but I'm such a hardcore fan. Bless the internet era for helping me follow what became my favorite team.

I still remember refreshing the Prodigy (my ISP at the time) browser just to get updates on Kings scores LOL.

Wow! Did Bill Russell really coached the Kings? What record did they got that year?

I'm a Kingsfan since '99 also. Been a Bulls fan since MJ era. Know nothing about the Kings, didn't even know a Sacramento team exists that time in the NBA. Only I heard a name Kings, but not the city! As i recall, i heard also the name Abdul-Rauf or Abdur-Rauf, was he a Kings? That guy who was I think fined for not standing in a US anthem. I saw some highlights of him, and he can shoot! I like his skills. If I followed his game, probably I would be a Kingsfan since the mid-90's! hehe ;)

But I think, the arrival of J-Will really help this team become an exciting team, and correct me if I'm wrong, the following year after the lockout, the Kings national broadcast was up like about 10 times more appearance since the history of that franchise! Not also J-Will, but the addition of Vlade, C-Webb, and Pedja make the team a fun to watch. The brilliant moves of Petrie also took this team to a next level, and become a playoff team since then. With the BenchMob, those highlight passes, fun basketball and to the WCF, those memories really are priceless.

And as new players are now piling in this team, I think it will never be the same! Just like the explosiveness of Webber, it will never be the same.

But still, as a fan being around and rooting for like 6 yrs now, those memories will always be there, and you can't replace this team! Kudos to those people who are fans since '85 for rooting them on, even when that time they were a losing team. More props to those fans, for believing them and loyal to their team.

The fans of '99 batch, are there for you '85, we will continue believing with this team, come what may, losing season, winning season, changing lineups, etc.. We will always believe and will be a Kingsfan! Forever;)

It WAS John Wallace that the Kings fans wanted. Personally, I wanted the lightning quick PG out of Santa Clara. What ever happened to that Steve Nash kid?

Of course, I also said on draft night that, "as long as they don't take the Greek guy or the high school kid, I'm OK with whoever they pick." The high school kid went a pick earlier, to Charlotte. Another high school kid went a few picks later, which seemed like a reach to me at the time. I guess Kobe and J O'Neal turned out OK. I used to feel much better about my talent evaluating ability back when I could watch all these guys play college ball. Now I often feel clueless at draft time.

Another note about VF21's list: I like Adelman, but I have always thought that Eddie Jordan's dismissal was unfair. I thought he deserved a chance to work with a more talented roster.

But back to the topic of this thread - I don't know if I'll ever have the same feeling as watching a previously moribund franchise finally reach the upper echelon of teams in the NBA. But my overall love of this team my wax and wane slightly at times, but I will always have a passion for this team.

Watching our new franchise make the playoffs in their first year in Sacramento, the Billy Owens for Mitch Richmond deal, the gritty team that made the playoffs in 96 with Richmond, Brian Grant, Michael Smith and rookies Corliss and Tyus Edny are all memories that I would add to your list of things that increased my love of this franchise.

Hell, even the horrible events of the past such as drafting Joe Klein, the record FOUR first round picks that failed to net a single star (Lionel Simmons was the best of them), signing Ralph Sampson, asking Bill Russell to coach, drafting Pervis Ellison or Bobby Hurley's tragic crash are things that I'm glad I was there for. I think that is why the team's success in 99 meant so much to me. While I will always love the team, that was a special and fantastic feeling and I know it will return for me again some day. Because I'm a Kings fan for the long haul.

Ditto BigO! I mean FunkyKingston;)

Memories to cherish.... Even the bad..

Jerry Reynolds collapsing and and almost dying on the floor is another.

I have been a Kings fan since the beginning. While I still follow the team closely, I have become very bored with their recent play. Seeing Bibby and Webber play pick and roll over and over and over and over has become predictable and boring. The Kings are the most fun when they are moving the ball side to side, inside out. That is where they miss Vlade. The last game against Denver was fun to watch, as the ball moved more with Webber on the bench. I would like to see Adelman insist the team make more passes and sit players who don't listen to him, even if it is a star. This team needs to get Peja and now Mobley involved in the offence.

So you didn't find the game against the Spurs fun? Boy we sure see things differently. I am curious and I hope you don't mind me asking - why, if you're obviously down on Webber, is your name Sac4cwebb?

I asked Sac4cwebb a civil question. I don't see the need for YOU to make a snide retort.

I picked my name when Chris was contemplating leaving the Kings, before he signed his big contract. Since he has come back from his surgery, he appears frequently to want to prove he is the go to man. When Chris plays as part of a team, rather than part of his team, the team plays better. Don't get me wrong, an injured Chris is better than 80% of NBA players, but I just think the team is more exciting to watch when more players are involved in the offence.
