The subject of this post does not warrant a lot of merit in terms of importance, since the obvious goal of Kings team for upcoming regular season 05-06 is all about getting Ws and playoff positioning, and not who scores most, but just out of curiosity:

How do you think the scoring average of our starting 5 will play out?

Let's suppose good health, and starters play on average 35-40+ minutes per game.

Here's my guess:

Peja >>>>> 24 points per game
Mike Bibby >>>> 20 points per game
Shareef Rahim >>>> 15 points per game
Bonzi >>>> 15 points per game
Brad Miller >>>> 12 points per game

I base these predictions on the fact that Peja and Bibby are still our most lethal shooters, and with Bonzi and SAR post threats....defenses must honor them to give our shooters open looks. I also anticipate Bonzi will get a lot of chippy baskets in fast break and half-court sets as an opportunistic cutter and driver to the hoop. And I look for Brad Miller scoring average to decline as he returns to a role of more of dirty work player, and being a facilitator from the high post. He is also so unselfish, and being on the court with 4 scorers, he will take less shots.

Also I expect Mike Bibby to make his first all-star team next year and erase the memory of a dismal playoff, and Peja to play for a max contract and silence his critics....with these incentives in front of them, their scoring averages will not slip much even with the addition two new scorers to our top five.

i think our starting 5 would average around 85-90 points a game

If our starting 5 average only 85 - 90 points per game, then we aren't going to be winning very many games. It will be a long season.

Brad - 13pts 10reb 4ast
Shareef - 19pts 9reb 3ast
Peja - 21pts 5reb 3ast
Bonzi - 15pts 6reb 3ast
Mike - 18pts 3reb 6ast

Uh..that's about as much as you are ever going to see a starting 5 average as a rule. Even Phoenix last year, running and gunning with no bench and with the MVP at PG and a superstar PF, only averaged 96.

What r u saying? That many points from the starters is very good. I think ur missing the point. Its how many points will the starters average, not the "whole" team. 15-20 points from our bench and were an extremely good offensive team.

Mike Bibby: 17ppg, 3.5rpg, 7apg
Bonzi Wells: 16ppg, 6.5rpg, 3apg
Peja Stojakovic: 22.5ppg, 5.9rpg, 3.5apg
Shareef Abdur-Rahim: 19ppg (49% shooting), 9.4rpg, 3.6apg
Brad Miller: 14ppg, 10.3rpg, 4.5apg

I would prefer our scoring average to be lower. like around 98 ppg. and that we take less shots (unless we have an offensive advantage).

Peja 20 pts, 10 reb, 5 assts
Mike 20 pts, 10 reb, 5 assts
Brad 20 pts, 10 reb, 5 assts
SAR 20 pts, 10 reb, 5 assts
Bonzi 20 pts, 10 reb, 5 assts

Well now that's very egalitarian of you... I like it. Anybody want to take a stab and blocks and steals while we're at it? A little easier I think due to our definciencies, no one higher than 1.5 blocks or steals in this team's starters. And you heard it here first, Mike Bibby will have more blocks than Peja. Not a huge leap, but there it is. Back to the point.

Brad: 16.5, 10.2, 4.2
SAR: 19.9, 9.4, 3.1
Peja: 24.1, 6.0, 3.2 (Very optimistic here, '03-'04 form)
Bonzi: 15, 4.7, 3.0
Mike: 20.4, 3.0, 7.1 (larger role for mike, maybe he finally breaks 20 ppg)

Points:
Peja > Bibby > SAR > Bonzi > Brad
Rebounds:
Brad > SAR > Peja > Bonzi > Bibby
Assists:
Bibby > Brad > Bonzi > SAR >>>>> Peja

Blocks:
Skinner > Hart

Steals:
Bonzi > Sampson

Sorry if that's how it came across. I simply don't see Peja having a lot of assists. I would much rather see him being the one who TAKES the shot as opposed to being the guy who passes to the guy who takes the shot.

Yeap, he's the receiver, his passing shouldn't be translated into poor performance. But I love his passing as much as his 3pointers.

I know about Peja's lack of toughness and rebounding, but I never percieved him as a "black hole" in the offense.

On the Kings, Peja always has been as close as we had. He rarely if ever touches the ball with the intention of doing anything other than shooting the ball himself. That's just his game. He doesn't create for others, he shoots it himself. The mitigating factor is just that Peja has the ball for a relatively small percentage of the time during a game -- pretty much by design and by game he normally handles it only immediately preceding his own shot going up. Not quite the same thing as a player who takes the ball and pounds it and pounds it for 10 seconds looking for a way to get his shot off.

Bibby 18 ppg, 7 apg, 5 rpg
Bonzi- 16 ppg, 4 apg, 6 rpg
Peja - 23 ppg, 3 apg, 7 rpg
Shareef - 15 ppg, 3 apg, 10 rpg
Brad - 15 ppg, 5 apg, 9 rpg

Bibby 16 ppg, 6 apg, 4 rpg
Wells 14 ppg, 2 apg, 5 rpg
Miller 16 ppg, 5 apg, 9 rpg
Abdur Rahim 14 ppg, 2 apg, 8 rpg
Stojakovic 22 ppg, 2 apg, 5 rpg

Bibby 20.5 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 7.5 apg (elected to All-star game)
Wells 15.5 ppg, 6.5 rpg, 3.5 apg
Peja 23 ppg, 5 rpg, 3 apg (elected to All-star game)
SAR 18 ppg, 9 rpg, 3.5 apg
Miller 15 ppg, 10.5 rpg, 4.5 apg (elected to All-star game)

Yes, three Kings to the All-star game, as it damn well should be.

Bibby 19.5 ppg, 5 rpg, 8.5 apg
Wells 21.0 ppg, 7 rpg, 4.0 apg
Peja 22.0 ppg, 7 rpg, 3.5 apg
SAR 18.5 ppg, 9 rpg, 3.0 apg
Miller 1.0 ppg, 18 rpg, 1 apg<<<<<<<<<<<<<<Miller gives up all attempts at scoring and focuses on rebounding alone. All problems solved.

Okay, so other than an endless stream of slightly varying numbers, what was the purpose of this thread again?

;)

bibby-21/5/8
bonzi-14/5/3
peja-26/5/3
rahim-17/10/4
miller-15/10/5

i could easily see rahim averaging 20 depending how well the team meshes.... but bibby will definitely hit 20 ppg and peja will be much better than last years numbers....

cant wait....
